The only other solution would be typing ''mat_specular 0'' in the console. tho the game will freeze for some time as its getting rid of the reflections of the cubemaps.
It really depends on the map. some maps have realy reflective Cubemaps.
The cubemaps some maps doing that. type mat_Specualr 0 in console if you wanna remove the shinyness from the models
