I wish I were a weeb because this game is really cool but I just don't like 99% of the songs (save for Brain Power and Freedom Dive) lmao

I've come to the realization that games like this one are just not for me. It feels like work, and not in a fun way.

Talk about missed potential.

This game, in theory, has everything to succeed but is completely devoid of flow. What do I mean? Just a few quality of life improvements would tremendously help its core concept, which is fantastic. Lemme explain.

The main character is awesome, she's funny and insanely badass-- her design is crazy, Fury is legit. Her moveset alongside the upgrades you get make her one of the dopest characters I've ever played as in a videogame, however...

The enemies are uninspired, some hollowed half-butt made characters that are just there for you to completely crush and yet, it feels... not satisfying at all. The big bois are where the game starts showing its problems; the dodging mechanic is wonky, which makes things a tad frustrating to understand and sometimes the enemies just chain combo you nonstop and well, here's why I cannot recommend this game.

The checkpoint system is beyond archaic for a game like this-- a game that has a soulslike combat (somewhat), priding itself in being difficult yet every time you die you respawn waaaaay back whenever you saw the friendly demon dude that sells you upgrades. In Dark Souls, the bonfire mechanic works because it's placed in ways that actually help-- plus, usually, you have a multitude of paths to choose if one doesn't work. Yeah, here we don't have that luxury and also, we have a good amount of Estus Flasks uses and here... it's scarce-- you can choose between upgrading Fury or buying health shards, which is super lame.

Darksiders 3 is linear, storydriven for the most part and having to redo the same path over and over again doesn't bode well with me-- it kills my interest in continuing because some cheap stunlock enemy decided to empty my health bar. Ever heard the good ole "hard but fair"? Yeah it doesn't apply here.

Remember I said dodging is wonky? Yeah, it's the game's main idea, which works in theory but fails miserably in practice. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't-- comparing again, in Dark Souls you're in complete control of your rolls (plus I frames) and here... the clunky nature of the game just doesn't allow you to survive sometimes. The game makes you try hard to keep progressing but it's simply not worth the effort.

The lesson here is: Be careful implementing a bonfire mechanic in your game because it can make it or break it-- and in this case, it broke what it could've been a very, very good experience. Fury deserved much better.

Unbelievably boring. I was waiting for the game to give me something to be excited about but... nope, it never came.

Uninspired dungeon areas, samey enemies who are for some reason super tanky right from the get-go which is frustrating, especially since you have to grind to unlock new abilities and skills. The archer girl is such a chore to play as, the stamina system is unfun and straight up stupid especially against those beefy skeletons.

The storytelling is alright and the art style is just not for me-- I was expecting something more flashy but unfortunately, it's just the same grindy mechanic over and over again.

It looks like it's Sunset Overdrive on drugs (which is saying a lot) and it technically is but... the visual clutter is just too much for me. The soundtrack is obscenely repetitive and the gameplay feels solid, but it just doesn't match the purpose of the game, I feel.

I had zero sense of direction, what to do or where to go and the missions were just... there, I guess. Not enough for me to continue playing.

This game has a TON of potential, it's pretty fun and reminiscent of the good ole Twisted Metal but way more like Vigilante 8.

There's not as much content in the game just yet since it's in early access HOWEVER it's great to just jump in, shoot some stuff and jump out. The cars drive well, the weapons are... alright-- the HUD could certainly be more informative because it took me a while to understand where was everything, maybe more colourful in that aspect but overall it's a pretty nice experience.

Also try playing listening to the Vigilante 8 2nd Offense soundtrack for even more madness; it's brilliant and I hope they keep updating the game.

It's such an easy game to sit back, murder some monsters and relax.

Very friendly layout and tons of customization options if you feel the inventory is too small or the map is too big, which I really appreciate because now I don't have to force my already poor eyesight to read the item descriptions.

Loved it so far! If you're looking for a much simplistic however still engaging ARPG definitely grab this game, it's super worth it.

Fun concept that gets boring as hell incredibly fast, not to mention it's unnecessarily repetitive and slow.

It could be better.

Wanna play fetch quest after fetch quest with a very, very shallow story and little to no excitement? Then go for it!

The controls are a bit janky, unnecessarily frustrating-- braking and reversing doesn't always work and it can cost you missions; getting a wanted level is more of an annoyance than a challenge since you can live through em just fine and sometimes not even be shot or anything-- the enemies are very forgiving.

The soundtrack is alright, I enjoyed the looping music for what it was.

However my biggest gripe with this game is it replays the SAME mission with a different "skin" over it for the majority of the game, at least for the hours I played it.
I genuinely feel insulted by the amount of "go there and grab this redundant thing for me" missions in this game, literally every character has some sort of mission like this over and over again. I don't know if there's more to it but I didn't want to continue playing to find out.

It is an interesting idea... just plain, lazy and dreadfully boring-- stay away from this game.

Such a wonderful gem! I just finished getting all the achievements and I'm absolutely in love with Yoku's Island Express. The aesthetics, gameplay and overall design of the game are incredibly charming and it's more than worth it checking this out.

The pinball mechanics are on point, there's no randomness when it comes to getting stuff done and progressing through the game even though sometimes it might look like it. I'll say some aspects of the game are hidden and let you wonder what's going on, for example- fall down the brambles a few times and you'll see a haunting cutscene. However, honestly, some other things beneficial to the player could've been explained better, like the scarabs or the ball designs that are scattered around the game. You can connect the dots but I had to resort to guides for a few things. (beesuit? yeah right)

The metroidvania style is not bad, but it made me sigh multiple times due to the backtracking having to redo so many of the already done pinball "boards", in which, a few in particular can be extremely boring and if you're impatient, frustrating as well. After you progress enough it is possible to go through the game just fine due to so many shortcuts and of course the wonderful fast travel mechanic implemented here.

Yoku is a cute lil fella and every other NPC has a charming personality, but I will say no one is particularly memorable, however the grunts and noises they make are hilarious.

I highly recommend this game if you're in for a somewhat casual challenge! If you're in for 100%ing this game then make some time, be sure you have some patience in you because you'll need it.

Pro-tip? Slugs are the key for many of the otherwise "unreachable" collectables.
