After 15 hours I finished my first playthrough of the game on both Hard difficulties. After exploring as much as I could and finishing the "Leave" ending, I can say I really enjoyed this game and found it a very faithful remake to the OG SH2.

The atmosphere's great, voice acting got a big up especially on James. The world looks beautiful and the music and sound effects are top notch, really sets the mood. It's not my favorite type of game genre as I'm more of a Resident Evil type of player with more focus on action and combat, but this was a really nice change of pace and really enjoyed my time.

Planning to do a NG+ run to get a few more endings, look forward to doing so

Finished the base game at 100% & Valhalla, awesome experience and a lot of fun, significant improvements from GoW 2018, going for NG+ GMGOW next

Sucks that Sony puts in a PSN account requirement for a single player game though

Love this game, waited for its release for 4 years and it was worth the wait.

Combat can be a little simple but is very fun regardless, the world is beautiful and well built.
Bosses are unique and most are fun (there are a few that I think have flawed design).

The story is great and very interesting to follow, it's great to know more about the Journey to the West too

Played the game on PS5 and came back for seconds on PC release. Loving it as I was expecting.

Gameplay is still extremely enjoyable and is still one of the prettiest games for me. Story is really interesting and the characters have a lot of personality.

The game has had some issues regarding memory and the fact that AMDs Frame Generation crashes my game whenever I enable it which is a shame, but I can play without it, hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Standoff bug was supposedly fixed now so that's nice

Replaying this game again for the 3rd time and I've been enjoying it like the other playthroughs I had years ago. The only unfortunate thing about the game I can really find on my personal experience is how easy the game is. There is no hard difficulty nor anything that I consider truly challenging, the only way to get a proper experience now is to make sure to use an item to prevent yourself from leveling up and keep yourself around the lvl 40-50 mark.

It's one of the only unfortunate things as I love grinding all side quests before finishing the story, but it would turn out bland if I just rolled through every single boss fight with ease in under a minute. Otherwise ignoring all that, it's still a really enjoyable experience and I cherish the memories of me playing it for the first time in 2016 and I plan to 100% the game on Steam now.

A short review of the game

The game is good and fun

The performance and stability has gotten worse since the latest updates, more crashing and more fps drops, hopefully fixed soon.

Weapon balance could be a lot better as some weapons outrank all others by a huge margin.
Certain stratagems could be more powerful and feel underwhelming.

Bug enemies feel fair and relatively balanced, although the slowing mechanic from the acid feels inconsistent with the attack hitbox. (Bile Titan and the others who shoot out acid.

Automatons are fun and give a different kind of challenge compared to the bugs. Few of the enemies are quite frustrating to go against as a lot of missiles are almost always a guaranteed one shot to the player, unless you get lucky or you have armor being able to resist such shots.

Played this game a bunch when it came out and recently came back to chill on it, the game can still be a lot of fun at times

Play the game, it's got decent story and fun gameplay, you can get some goofy bugs sometimes as well which makes it more fun
