Description:

The Mantis is a combat walker from the Halo universe. This version uses hydraulic (piston) actuated legs in order to support the weight of the body. All of the controls are listed in front of the cockpit, which can be accessed from the rear.

The walker begins in a crouched state until it is activated. Then it will straighten up and take one step forward into a ready-position to await your next command.

Features:
- Activation Sequence
- Fully Automated Walking
- Start/stop, reverse, and turning
- Rocket Barrage With 5 Launchers
- Gatling Cannon

HINTS:
- The walker works best when the body is relatively perpendicular to the surface its walking on. It should walk fine on its own.
- TURN SLOWLY, it's easy to tip over
- There are 2 small atmospheric thrusters which can be used to help push the walker up hills or ramps. Just hold W.

GLITCH:
- If left in a world, after reloading, the gyros will be incredibly overpowered and it will probably break. I have found this to be a problem with many of my walkers. Best to grab a fresh blueprint if you want to play with it.

Quick question, have you identified the cause of the gyro malfunctions? I am attempting to build my own mech similarly to yours and I'm concerned about it being a waste of time (I build primarily in survival). Also, this is my favorite thing that I've seen on the workshop :).

Strange, haven't tried that one

hmm, wonder ifit could work if it was two seperate elements?joined by connectors or just mag locked to each other. essentialy having two mechs, one just a pair of legs, and the other the upper half with all the guns

also, just found I was somehow a fool... fresh from blueprint mantis and jaegar had gyros on them locked to upright, but the ones I left in my world had them reset to normal, no wonder I was staggering around like a drunken rugby player :steamfacepalm:

I'm pretty sure turret scripts have problems trying to allow one person to pilot and one person operate the gun. It's restricted to just one cockpit being able to move anything.

so, heavier weight means more downwards pressure, keeps a standing mech standing, and on a lower gravity world like mars, or one of the moons it helps a bit with traction, so less walking on air. but it also means on a higher gravity world like earth or the alien world when its starts to tip its much harder to recover. having some of the gyros locked to level helps on both heavyweight mantis and lightweight mantis, forgot to test if it helps with your glitch though

and I must admit, lots of craters, but that was mostly because they are a LOT of fun to pilot, thought of doing a two person mech? one person controlling the legs and direction of travel, and making the top half similar to a turret and individually controlled? might make taking on aircraft drones a bit easier

It's light, trying to keep the weight down

Actually, subscribed to a couple of your mechs, gonna test it myself and see what craters I make...
