"watching people being dicks" is one factor. The nail in the coffin was when he tried to live a relatively normal life under a new identity, but the people he actually started to care about were not what they seemed (One (Father) tortured people for money and just the heck of it and the other one (Daughter) stole money from him and shortly after blew his brains out (not that it can kill Alex, but she didn't knew that when she followed trough her plan))
The only thing I find more disrespectful is the fact Heller was able to defeat Alex (unless it is a part of some greater plan where Heller realizes that he is just a Virus that took a physical form and Alex persona somehow takes over - they did our boy Alex dirty)

And in there, there were drawings of him just... watching people being dicks to each other while being on his own and monologing about it.
