The Fire-Ant was made for Operation Touch-down. This operation was started by TDY to establish a new more stable base on the planet Minor Terra Nova. The Fire-Ant APCs were built inside of the TDY Arsenal. Around the Fire-Ant the Bumblebee was built so that the two vehicles would fit rightly to each other. The Bumblebees made it possible to transport the Fire-Ants to planets and back in space to the Arsenal carrier. Operation Touch-down was accomplished.

the Fire-Ant has an oxygen generator so that the vehicle can function on planets that have no oxygen aswell and to refill bottles. The Fire-Ant has gyroscopes to prevent it for flipping and for moving it in space together with it's ion thrusters. The Gatling turret on top is to make sure that the Fire-Ant does not get attacked by foes like Cyberhounds and spiders.
