If it is Your First Time Playing Audiosurf 2
If it is your first time playing Audiosurf 2 and you really need the basics on how the game works, the following guide is recommended: Cilfaen's introduction to Audiosurf 2 - By Fern

This will introduce you to the game itself, Familiarise you with some of the terminology that is used in game, give you a run down of the main menu and options within, and how to choose and play both YouTube and local music files in your game. as well as give you a grounded understanding of the controls, and concepts of the game itself.

I highly recommend reading that guide first before reading this one, as it gives you the knowledge you need to get started for the first time. If you are familiar with the game concepts then please continue with this guide.
What is mono Mode?
Mono mode is a strategy based skill game in Audiosurf 2 that requires you to have a good reaction speed and hand eye coordination to maximise your score.

Mono Mode is not Luck
Despite what most people think there is very little in the way of luck involved with Mono Mode maybe 10% at most with the block positioning - and this is being generous really...

Mono is a strategy based skill mode, that relies on the player understanding the game modes mechanics, and applying them to his or her run. So with this in mind let me explain a few of this game modes mechanics here for you!

A lot of the top ten players have taken the time to understand these 6 basic tips that help them climb to the top of the leader board almost every game, and a lot more people are starting to join them as they understand these too...
Tips and Tricks!
1... Fill the Grid!
Hit colours fill your grid for bigger scores, and use the grey blocks in mono to help get a bigger chain...
Note:- Hitting a grey block will reset your timer so do use this to your advantage

2... Multiplier Blocks (AKA PB's)
Use the multiplier blocks with a full grid to maximise the point boost you can get.
Note:- using the greys and skipping blocks at these points in the map can really work to your advantage here but if you mistime it you could also end up with a zero score on the PB

3... Skip a Block!
Do not be afraid to skip a coloured block to get more blocks on the grid it will only help increase your score!
note:- For a beginner miss no more than 5 blocks per chain you build and as you get better you will learn when to skip a few less or a few more depending on your grid!

5... Precision Timing!
The trails on some blocks (that thick line you see every so often!) will pause your timer if you ride it, to hit the Line - you need to be dead centre in the lane and hold the position.

Note:- A skilled player will hit these lines and dodge the block that is positioned on it but this can and does take practice!

6...Have Fun!
it is really important that you enjoy the game and relax through the song - yes there is a leader board, but trust me trying to get no.1 every day though it can be a nice challenge, is also very draining. so relax a little and enjoy the game.
There is a reason for this too! when you are relaxed your reaction times are greatly improved and you can also enjoy and learn even improve the reaction speeds that you have even more. if you're stressing out trying to get no.1 spot then you will drop at least 50k in points almost every time and that Is something I can vouch for!

Expanding on the Basics
So now it comes time to expand on the basics that I have detailed in the previous section, with the Idea of giving those looking for a bit more information on the grid and the scoring and some other bits that you have all been asking for!

Ok It looks like I was beaten to the punch on the more advanced guide and explanations, and reading it through, It is actually pretty good..

I just want to know if you can use the arrow keys like in Audiosurf 1. That is the only reason I stopped playing 2.

In case you weren't aware, I finished the first version of my "AS2 Mega Guide" a couple weeks ago. Let me know if you find any mistakes or have any suggestions. The Mono section should include just about everything Ywain's does, plus a little more: http://steamoss.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=679947933

Some tips for people, disable the live leaderboard, it makes you think about getting a high score a lot less and provides less of a distraction. I would always check it to see how well I was doing, which would cause me to miss things.

I've been playing on and off for a while, slowly getting better. I used to fuck powerblocks all the time, now I can get full/near full grids occassionaly, and it's good. Just focus on getting better and have fun, don't focus on winning. You'll get better in time.
