To verify the game you'll have to go to your Steam library, right click on the game, go to properties and then it'll be one of the tabs on that pop up. I'm going off memory here, so I hope that's right

I hope you can get this issue fixed. It's horrible to have a purchase seemingly wasted because of game crashes.
Just try reinstalling it. The game will realise the files are there and it'll only take a couple of minutes. If you check the game files, and they're not actually there, then that's weird.
