WindowShopping's Balance Mod V0.7

Опис
A balance mod that tries not be an overhaul mod while making the game harder

Here are some of the highlights so far:
-mostly nerf adjustments to buildings and laws so that they are more similar in power level
-buffs to issues like disease and squalor to be more punishing
-added more issues to colonies
-tension has been increased and added to many laws and abilities
-frostland stockpiles and outpost sizes have been reduced
-made some faction abilities have a cost and changed which abilities give fervour
-made population growth slower


Affects both story mode and utopia, but is tested in story mode.
Changes may effect some difficulties more then others. Balanced around Captain difficulty, citizen difficulty has boosted stats for testing purposes.

Thank you for the compliments. I agree that when the game reaches mid to late game, the difficulty drops off hard. It is pretty hard figuring out how to affect the late game, while trying not to make the early game harder, so that it doesn't have the same drop off. I will continue trying though :). I am looking into adjusting frostland exploration, oil, and the city startup setup if I can figure out how to change that for V0.7.

This is a very good mod, the changes in laws and policies are excellent, but it is still not too difficult. This may be determined by the underlying mechanism of the game. Finding coal in the initial outing and bringing it back with the cable car directly solves the energy problem. The difficulty and challenge of the game are greatly reduced. Maybe it is necessary to limit the early exploration function? I don't know :0:cleandino:

Updating again may take a while because I have to rebuild the mod. The original mod got messed up due to some changes I was testing. My backups I thought were also messed up, turns out I just can’t run mods locally anymore, I just have to upload to test them now (for reasons unknown to me)

Ya the tension UI effect can be pretty annoying. I’ll see if there is something I can do to tone it down or move the trigger requirement up.

Gave this a few playthroughs (2 story and several captain utopia) and i think the reworks make the game more engaging and challenging. I love that the cities issues are more devastating which makes you use options that you really didn't need to bother with in the real game, like rapid filtration, medical trials, and emergency shifts. Population growth nerfs are great too, its a nice change having to rely on the frostland for workforce as opposed to the base game where passive growth was so fast you actually had issues finding a job for everyone. Only complaint is that since tension now rests at a pretty high value, the high tension dramatic effects and lighting are present pretty much up until you invest into fighting hubs, design your city in a very specific way, or pass radical laws. :pilgrims::faithkeepers::steamhappy:
