Update!
V2 of Serious Spam is up! This update features two brand new short levels with restless fighting and dodging. New enemies and a brand new Master awaits. Please read the changelog for the documented changes.

Introduction
Welcome to Serious Spam 4, the first pack of mods and maps made by me. I hope you enjoy what this mod has to offer.

Currently, this package includes four levels to choose from; however, I plan to add more levels in the future.

EPILEPSY WARNING
Serious Spam 4 features many explosions and flashing colors that may put those who have high sensitivity to flashing lights at risk. Please do not subscribe to this mod if you are sensitive to muzzle flashes and multi-colored projectiles.

About
Serious Spam 4 is a Singleplayer Total Conversion experience that will allow players to participate in restless, chaotic over-the-top battles. Your reflexes, situational awareness, dodging skills, and ammo management will be put to the test under intense situations. Can you outspam the Serious Spam?

Levels
Each level in Serious Spam 4 varies in length and contains its respective objective and minimalistic story. Although highly recommended, it is not required to play every level in order.

Tutorial level is also included.

Difficulty
Tourist = Go slow pls (for players unfamiliar with bullet hell and/or ammo management)
Easy = Gimme a taste (for bullet hell novices that are not familiar with ammo management)
Normal = Spam me plenty (for experienced bullet hell players who have good ammo management)
Hard = Bullet Hell enthusiast (for experienced bullet hell players who have excellent ammo management)
Serious = Sensory Overload (not for the squeamish)
  • Difficulty no longer affects how fast enemies move and how much damage they deal to the player: a Major Mechanoid hits you equally as hard on Tourist compared to Serious difficulty.
  • Difficulty now affects how often enemies will execute an attack.
  • Difficulty no longer affects the maximum amount of ammo you can carry.
  • Not intended to be played with custom difficulty settings.
Player
  • Health, armor, and ammo now regenerate slowly over time, allowing players to now focus mainly on tactics rather than scavenger hunts for resources.
  • The player’s movement speed is greatly increased too and no longer requires you to slow down when changing strafing directions.
  • No more fall damage. Geronimo!
Enemies
  • Many enemies you have faced now have brand new attack patterns similar to those seen in bullet hell SHMUPs. Additionally, many enemies (such as Kleers) no longer execute melee attacks.
  • Some enemies, such as one variation of Gnaar, now come with basic projectile attacks.
  • On top of encountering familiar faces, you will also encounter medium and giant-sized mutants of them. Some enemies grow past giant!
Weapons
Every individual weapon has been tweaked in order to handle the chaotic hordes that are not usually encountered in Serious Sam 4; however, the following changes to the weapons will test your ability to think tactically during a fight*:
  • Weapons have a low max ammo count and many weapons share the same ammo pool (such as the Minigun, Assault Rifle, and Sniper sharing the bullet ammo pool).
  • All ammo pools regenerate over time.
  • Quick-switching is now possible! You can now rapidly switch weapons to bypass reload times and slow fire rates. You can also use this to create weapon combos.
*If you have played DOOM Eternal before, you will be familiar with these weapon balance features as well as the ability to quick-switch.

Known Issues & Inconveniences
The issues below are issues I am unable to fix at the moment.
  • Netrisca refuses to function (but don’t worry, you will still receive the information you need such as the amount of secrets and objectives in a level).
  • The single shotgun’s weapon bob freezes after firing a grenade.
  • Sometimes, texts suddenly turn dark.
  • Sam holds a pistol in 3rd person despite holding his fists in 1st person.

Please let me know of any errors and issues with progression you encounter while playing this map. With my knowledge of campaign and gameplay development for Serious Sam, I will do my best to apply the necessary fixes and adjustments.

Glad you enjoyed! Though, unfortunately (as a very late update) I'm sorry to say that future updates for this mod are no longer in development. Thank you all for playing, though; I greatly appreciate it.

@NUCLEARBLAST91, I do not recommend playing with the enemy multiplier because this mod has not been tested nor designed with it in mind. I anticipate that there is a high chance of softlock or increased severity of lag with an enemy multiplier enabled.

@steak jacobs, @Neiser. Thank you for your feedback. I will take note of these experiences while developing enemies for future levels.

I have updated this package with small tweaks to the 2nd level's boss, reverting its difficulty back to a previous version I have made during development. I do hope you find the new dodging experience fun and more predictable :)
