Latest Version Released 2/5/25, compatible with vanilla patch 1.14.X

This is an optional compatibility patch for Regional Immersion and Cultural Enrichment (RICE) and Ethnicities & Portraits Expanded (EPE).

RICE is already compatible with EPE. However, by default, RICE’s new cultures will use vanilla ethnicities (i.e. the physical appearance of characters) rather than ethnicities added by EPE - this compatch changes that, so RICE’s new cultures use EPE’s ethnicities as appropriate.

For load order, put this compatch AFTER both RICE and EPE. Per the EPE team, RICE should be before EPE in the load order.



While I think you can add this compatch to an existing save game, please note that it will not affect any existing characters so it is recommended you use this with new playthroughs.

No compatch is needed for CFP+RICE. However, if you are using CFP and EPE, you will need the CFP+EPE compatch. The CFP+EPE compatch can be downloaded here: https://steamoss.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2996881191

@thr3at77 Try running only RICE, only EPE, and only RICE with EPE and the compatch, and no other mods (not even minor or cosmetic mods) and see if the issue persists. If it does, that might be an issue with the mod(s) not updating properly so you'd have to try the old trick of unsubscribing and resubscribing until they work.

game crashes when i load up a new world, put all the related mods to the bottom of load order, now everyone looks like cryptids and are naked

Update: The HPP Compatch was causing it because I was using an old version

@cybrxkhan, never mind, I just tested with EPE only without RICE or its compatch and the problem still occurred, so it has to be either EPE itself or one of its compatches.

@Lord_Weasel I don't make any changes to those cultures. Does the issue run when you are using only RICE, only EPE, and only RICE+EPE with the compatch, and no other mods, not even minor or cosmetic mods?

There seems to be an issue with this compatch since the last EPE update, the Brahui and Anatolian Turkish cultures are missing entirely and were replaced with Akan, and all cultures with DLC traditions reverted to their vanilla counterparts. I tried enabling and disabling various mods and narrowed it down to the RICE-EPE compatch

Map Changing and Bookmark Adding/Changing Mods seem to be most problematic.

@Minos No prob and thanks for the update. More Bookmarks+ is pretty tricky with updates, since its author has to integrate some of RICE code and other mods' code to get some of the stuff they want to do working.

Sorry to be a Nuisance, but i have to take it back, being EPE the real Problem here, only its Update was, but it caused another Mod to freak out.

The Mod causing the Problems for me since the Update is "More Bookmarks +".

And here i was testing around with all the Graphical Mods, while this Mod already released a Compatch the same Day, but it causes all Sort of Problem, even on New Games.

So yeah, anyone questioning themselves the same now - i hope this helps...

Gonna try out if also another Map Overhaul like " More Provinces " gives me Problems too.
