RICE, or Regional Immersion and Cultural Enrichment, adds immersion to different regions, cultures, and religions in CK3. As a spiritual successor to my Immersion Packs for CK2, it is a collection of "flavor packs" similar to PI's official flavor pack DLCs. RICE's guiding philosophy is to keep a focused scope that won't change gameplay significantly, but instead adds flavor across the world that is grounded in historical authenticity, especially for lesser-known places, peoples, and histories.

RICE might work on existing saves (with some missing features), but a new game is advised to be safe.

Feel free to use my work in your mods - all I ask is that I am credited and (if possible) to give me a heads up. If you liked the mod, feel free to favorite and rate it up!





RICE is designed with compatibility in mind, and runs fine with most mods - for more info, please see this webpage[cybrxkhansmods.godaddysites.com]. I avoid editing vanilla files to prevent conflicts with other mods. For example, new cultures are added via hidden events at game start instead of directly through history code. Compatches are available for:


Special content provided if you also play with The Fallen Eagle or Rajas of Asia[google.com], which do not require compatches.

I WILL NOT maintain compatches for most mods that may need one. Feel free to make your own (let me know so I can link it here). If you're a modder, don't hesitate to contact me on the forums or Discord about compatibility!




Each RICE flavor pack adds features to a region, culture, or religion, that include new activities, decisions, events, music, and more. Read the RICE wiki[ck3.paradoxwikis.com] and Flavor Pack Guides[cybrxkhansmods.godaddysites.com] for more info on new features, tips and tricks, and selected lists of academic sources I used for further reading.

There are currently 36 new flavor packs, shown on this map:





By default, RICE uses the original English text as a placeholder so you won't see gibberish for other languages.

@Takeeh Correct, unfortunately I cannot do that without modifying vanilla code in the landed titles, which is highly compatibility unfriendly even compared to other vanilla edits since it'd mess with any mod touching landed titles.

@AcadianKid The way the game works, it's hardcoded that you have to have a capital in a struggle region to be involved/interloper in it. Seems like you just moved your capital to the Greenland struggle region, which doesn't overlap with the Normandy struggle region.

For the Normandy struggle, however, I did do a workaround where you can still see the ending decision (but not necessarily be able to do it) if any county of your realm is in Normandy.

Not sure if I am in the right spot but - doesn't RICE include the Colonization of Greenland and Consolidation of Normandy struggles? If so, I am having an issue where I, as a Norman conqueror of England, can no longer see the Consolidation of Normandy Struggle because of the Colonization of Greenland Struggle, and because of that I can't see what I need to do to take the Conqueror decision for the Consolidation struggle. Is this a known issue and/or does anyone have a work around?

@3rdDegreeKing You're having an incompatibility with a mod that alters clothing or genetics such as EPE or CFP or MB+ and a mod that edits cultures such as Culture Expanded or MB+ or EPE and your load order is either wrong or you are missing a required compatch.

@negitoro Can you try that on a test game while running only RICE? The only one that has requirements is the Veneration intent which requires a reilgious palio

@naked jesus: Does the issue happen when you're running only RICE and no other mods, not even minor or cosmetic mods?

3rdDegreeKing: Deactivating mods one by one doesn't necessarily show the culprit as it's possible it's due to a compatibility issue between two mods for instance, rather than that one mod by itself. If you run only RICE and no other mods (not even minor cosmetic mods), does the issue still persist for the northern clothes?

I've noticed when using RICE that characters of northern cultures are always wearing nightgowns as if they were sick.

It stopped being an issue when I deactivated the mod. Is anyone else experiencing this bug or is there something about my load order that's causing it?

I can see all the charter fair decisions as other characters outside England
