Description

A couple of bug fixes and minor improvements for Pandora's Box.

If you come across any bugs or issues with Pandora's Box that aren't listed below, feel free to report them to me, and I'll look into adding a fix into this mod. Currently, this mod contains the following fixes-slash-improvements:
  • Fixed a broken item spawning when opening the Starter Bag.

  • Fixed the missing icon for the Heal Sphere tech.

  • Removed the Combat Music for colored enemies.

  • Elsen Rykker, for not only creating Pandora's Box (along with PointBeing and Hubnester), but also for giving me permission to fix these issues.

  • All of you out there, for staying with me through my time modding this game. Thank you so much.

in this specific case, most of those older death animation resprite mods probably don't have a priority specified in their metadata, which defaults to 0. this is very bad, because, for some reason, Elsen Rykker gave Pandora's Box a priority of 1. that means, no matter where you put it on the workshop load order, it will always load after the majority of those resprite mods.

since you can't patch a metadata file, there's no way for one mod to change the priority of another mod, nor add another mod to that mod's includes section. because of this, the issue circles back around to those old death animation mods needing to update, which is unlikely to happen, since most of those mod developers are gone.

i do understand how this feature can help, don't get me wrong - i have my own collection that i run of approximately 800 mods and climbing, all of which have to work together without crashing or causing any game-breaking issues. i've done so thus far without touching the workshop load order, but i can look into that and see if there's ways to optimize it through there.

but like i said, starbound will prioritize its own load order system over the steam one. if two mods have the same priority, the workshop load order will likely allow you to shift them around, this is true. but if one mod has a priority value over the other, i very much doubt the workshop load order is going to affect them.

Starbound> right click> Properties> Workshop> and boom! All the installed mods are listed and you can sort, filter, disable and even save them to new or existing collections. it's good for when you have multiple smaller mods that edit the same files. Ie I have the "Star Trek Transporter & Warp sound replacements (with some visuals)" loaded before the "Killer 7 teleport sound" so it plays the Killer 7 warp sound over the Star trek warp animation.

@AnomNom also you're right about startbound having its own load order feature HOWEVER if you have a bunch of mods that use 0 or lets say -90000 then steams load order does its magic. I have over 500 mods and the only errors i get are from the mod im currently making., 0 crashes btw and Im using my crappy laptop.

actually didn't know that was a feature until now, lmao. yeah, starbound prioritizes it's own load order system over the workshop one, so moving mods around in that isn't going to make much (if any) of a difference. it might affect mods that have the same priority listed in the metadata file? not sure. but, either way, it wouldn't help in this situation. mod authors just need to go back and include pandora's box in their metadata files or increase the priority.

Not sure about the workshop load order to be frank. I suppose the priority in the meta files come to play but I'm not certain

workshop load order?
Beezy 25 Dec, 2024 @ 2:08pm
@AnomNom & @FlakTaryd Whats worse is even with the useful workshop load order function it still prevents respites from overwriting :/ making a patch too I guess.

Can't argue with that. I have my own fix which is taking the manual resprite and delete the spawn animations, which I've done over a year ago. Though the latter solution without uploading to steam would be easier. Least in my case.
