1917 Fiat Botafogo Special

Description
The Botafogo Special was built by Argentinian racer Adolfo Scandroglio in 1917. He purchased an aircraft grade WWI 21.7L Fiat A engine and mated it to his home built car frame. He was inspired by other such drivers and builders of the time who also took surplus WWI aircraft engines and built cars around them, such as Sir Ernest Eldridge who set a land speed record of 146 mph in his car the Mephistopheles in 1924 (interestingly this was also the last time a land speed record was set by a car on a public road). Sadly, Mr. Scandroglio was killed in his car in 1949 and the car was lost to time. Later the engine was recovered and the car rebuilt and is now owned by Jay Leno.

My Stormworks version is equally as dangerous. Firstly, IT DOES NOT HAVE BRAKES, and the car produces large amounts of torque and this makes the car almost uncontrollable at high speed; but down worry, you will have no idea how fast your going because there isn't a speedometer either.

OPERATION:
- Sit in the driver seat and apply the handbrake (you should see the handbrake lever move towards the rear of the car).
- Use the "Fuel Pump' lever to pump up the fuel tank pressure to atleast 0.10 PSI (you can also use the 'hot key' in the driver seat to set it to 'ON' which in my opinion is a little "cheaty" but its there.
*Note: If the fuel tank pressure drops to zero the engine will stall. While idling the fuel pressure will not drop.
- Exit the car and open the hood/bonnet to gain access to the engine, press and hold the carburetor prime buttons for 1 second a piece to prime them.
- Sit in the driver seat and turn on the Magneto, press the '5' key to start the engine.
- Release the Handbrake
- Give her some gas 'W'.
- Your off to the races!
*Note shifting up or down will move the gearshift lever forwards or backwards. Full forwards is reverse, middle is first gear and towards the rear (closest to the driver) is second gear.
- To shutdown the engine just turn off the Magneto

This car is not really practical or capable of really anything in Stormworks. I just made it for fun. Also be careful when cresting hills or mounds , if your going to fast you will bottom out and break the car.

This car was inspired by Darkside's 'Beast of Dreimor'. check it out here:

(It handles FAR better then my car.)

ENJOY!

UPDATE 20 AUG 2020:

-Improved handling considerably and engine performance

- Added brakes!!! Mind you not very good brakes, but they are there. It's only the rear wheels so using them abruptly will often result in spinning out, try tapping the brakes for best results. I saw some video footage of Jay Leno using the parking brake as a wheel brake and decided I should probably do that too. Not sure why I didn't think of that before.

Scott_e, well good luck with the car show, but if you need help with a museum I would certainly enjoy helping but I have several other projects I'm either helping folks with or my own that I would like to finish first. Hope you understand.

I'm planning on hosting a car show from my server soon anyway so it could be interesting

Well maybe we could just create a little 'museum' or something to have the cars all lined up neatly

Scott_e, can't wait to see them! What short of "photo shoot" did you have in mind?

4th German Reich, certainly the most original reason reason I've heard why someone likes this build! :D Maybe some day I'll get to it, some many projects, so little time.
