Description
Cerberus is happy to announce the release of our project XM9. Living life on a budget of no more then 250 blocks getting you down? Just can't seem to find that right mining machine for your ever growing building needs? Well Cerberus has what you need! Our XM9 comes with the latest technologies in comfort, thrust, storage, and power for that miner on the go without dipping deep into those pockets.

The XM9 is capable of boring a hole straight through any astroid while retaining a slim profile. So no worries of breaking parts while in tight confines. XM9 supports duel cockpits for easy reversing as well an additional space to bring a friend! The business end of our XM9 is the drills. With a rotating nine drill head assembly no worries of being bogged down by a large workload. Plus with four dedicated generators for your oxygen and hydrogen needs, you'll breath easy through out your entire day!



Operational information

Remember that your hydro thrusters are very powerful. When approaching a location to mine, tap the thrust or use thruster overide to get closer to avoid damaging collision.

If not using an inventory managerlways remember to place atleast 5k-10k ice in "each" O2 generator. Otherwise you risk running out of hydrogen and oxygen.

When drilling, unlock the drill rotor then press increase velocity once for 10 rpm. Any higher in rotation may cause explosion from drills hitting voxel walls.

Due to design with rotors, expect a little rotional movement when first rotating the drills. This is easy to correct when using gyros.

XM9 comes standard with two program blocks. One for the provided thruster control script and one blank for your favorite inventory manager. Whip's rotor thruster script is needed to correctly use this build with wsda keys. However the script is not required for operation because the hydro thrusters can be controlled manually via 6 through 9.

Work lights can be turned on via k menu or ctril+2 for visability when mining in dark areas

Twelve medium and four small cargo containers come standard. Lots of space for all your mining needs. Plus ample space and power for ice reserves. *Note the containers are on a seperate grid so manual movement will be needed without an inventory manager. This is a game limitation*

XM9 was built with a block limit and limitations in the design had to be made. One such limitation was directional thrust. The supplied ions and gyros are enough for limited movement. They will not save you from poor navigational mistakes! XM9's design and power is forward and back control, not turning.

Think ahead when traveling and never directly point at your place of travel. Instead point adjacent to your target for safe breaking while avoiding collision. XM9 in the end, is a budget miner. So welcome to life on the edge!

The block limit was set for 250 and 250 blocks were used in this build. So sadly, I had to leave out much of my usual detailing and safety features. Maybe in the future I'll return to make this more modular and completely overhaul it. Hopefully without a landing gear the connector will be enough to prevent issue and people will not run out of hydro.


For those using this miner outside of the contest, feel free to upgrade as you see fit in your world. I advise additional directional thrusters to improve on the ion's thrust power.

Isy's inventory manager is not required, though it's very nice to have for automated ore sorting into the containers. I included it in the mod list for those who are looking for a great lag free manager to use.

No problem, it really gives the game a new look with all the old style green screens. Not very many mods out there that do replacements.

What mod are you using for the cockpit interiors?

turn the drill is better not to rotor. Fasten them to the hull, and twist the entire ship. With a single gyro. Set the gyro parameter to intercept control. This design will be more stable and strong. And so - a great idea .

Thanks Surtur! I actually had a much more complicated way of doing the same task with two indepent rotors. But it turned into a nightmare and I said why cant this just spin! Then I had my ahh haa moment. lol
