At the beginning of making this piece, I believed the Famas did not really have an illustrative skin so I created the Windspeaker! I wanted this piece to have a very Nordic feel along with a muted palette. The main illustrations are made up of muted colors while the sky is made of a more warm coffee color. I stylized the wind in a semi-oriental style to simulate flow and movement in this design.

In many ancient cultures there are beliefs where gods influenced the fate of sailors through wind. Places where wind can suddenly cease to exist for a couple days include the horse latitudes. Without wind, sailors are stuck at sea and were forced to throw their horses overboard to keep their food supply high.

This piece is inspired by my Disney childhood of riding the Norway ride "Maelstrom," A ride where you sail on a boat and experience a piece of viking culture and history. I was moreso inspired by the murals and the environment the attraction creators created rather than the ride's story. Since then, they removed the ride from the park. This skin is a tribute to all the times I rode this ride while growing up.
