Geometry Dash is by a longshot my favorite game of all time and one in which I have been enjoying for around a decade of my currently 15 year old existence as of January 2025 and I have the purest moments of joy and nostalgia within the many facets of this game. Thousands of hours on mobile as a dumb kid were spent on this game and many hundreds more have been spent on PC in recent times. This game has emotionally affected me in ways that words cannot describe and the passionate community and creators has kept this community thriving with some of the most beautiful and passionately made works of art I have seen in any game. This has heavily influenced my taste in music as well and has introduced me to many artists which I believe make beautiful music. This game will forever hold a place in my heart and I honestly cant thank everyone involved in this game enough. We have truly made something special :)


Edit: 2.2 has come out and I am getting very emotional just thinking about this game. I have never felt more happy in a video game community then in the GD community and it has been over half of decade since this gem of a game has been updated. I know I have said this alot in Reddit posts, discord, etc but I truly mean this. This is the one game where I feel as if the community has come together to keep this game alive after so many years and I cannot thank you all enough. In the odd chance that people such as Aeonair or EVW see this review, thank you sincerely for all of your amazing content. And thank you to all of the creators, top players, RobTop, and everyone else for keeping this game alive and I so very happy to have this update. I almost feel weird for not being on the verge of crying as of now. This update is truly a Christmas miracle. To sum it all up, this game truly means a lot to me. Thank you everyone for this amazing ride of ups and downs and I hope to see the amazing things we can do in the future with this update! This is honestly in my opinion one of, if not the best game ever made. I will first give a rundown about my history with the game and then I will breakdown key points as to why the game is so special to me in my life and why I think it could be the best game ever made.
Strap in because this is likely going to be a long review. If this is not completed at the time of you reading this, then it is likely because of the fact that I am still working on this. I will be working to revise this review over and over again as this game means so very much to me. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the passionate review.

It was somewhere around 2014 - 2016 (I do not remember what year exactly) that I saw my cousins playing this game on their phones. It involved a square (or cube) jumping over spikes. Me being the curious kid that I was at the time saw the game and I liked the music alongside it. I asked them "What is that game you are playing?" " Geometry Dash" they told me. So I went on to the app store and found the game. I initially downloaded the lite version and after some time enjoying that I asked my mom for a few dollars and I eventually bought the full game since it was cheap
For a plethora of reasons, I became so invested into this game. I felt a constant sense of progression and I could feel myself improving and becoming increasingly comfortable with the game as time went on. I remember being super happy completing the main levels of the game back when they were hard for me to complete. At that time, I did not care too much about how well I was doing in the game since the act of just playing and enjoying the music and sounds was enough to keep me content. I progressed my way through the levels and I was excited to see what the next levels were. That was when I reached the 3 main demon levels.
Clubstep was the first roadblock. It took a few thousand attempts at the start. It was initially significantly harder then any other level that I had completed at the time but I was determined to beat it.
While Clubstep was doable, I quickly learned that there were easier demons. I looked up on Youtube and I found a level called the Nightmare. Many Youtubers at the time regarded it as a "free demon" and I liked the sound of that.
Due to the easy nature of the level, I beat it rather quickly despite me being bad at the game at the time and having a very limited skillset. This gave me the confidence I needed to beat the 3 main demons as well as other demons.
Theory of everything 2 was a lot easier and was honestly a lot more fun. It took me a few weeks at most to learn and once I learned the level it stuck with me even when I decided to return to it for fun years later.
As for Deadlocked, the same cannot be said. I spent close to 3 years on this level. You heard me right. Not 3 months. 3 YEARS. To an even somewhat competent player, that sounds horrible. And it was. But granted I was much younger then and wasn't practicing the level effectively and / or consistently at all.
As the years went on, I did discover more games. But Geometry Dash remained one of my favorite games for years. A lot of people at my school would talk about it and it was just enjoyable.
I also felt an immense sense of achievement like no other when I beat demons. I have passed many medium demons and a couple of hard demons with Forsaken Neon being my first hard demon completion and a pivotal step in my confidence and skill in the game.
Thereafter, my next hardest was Spacelocked which helped me get better at duals. My next hardest and first inane demon was Acropolis. This was a level that I remember seeing many years back and even to this day I still can’t believe I have beaten it. I know that it is nowhere near the hardest demon but I still can’t imagine how happy younger me would have been had he seen what he would complete and what he would have persevered through.
I would go as far as to say that game has potentially made me realize the value of improvement and about how failure can be a point of learning and that it is needed for growth. When you start playing a demon, you will NOT get instantly, maybe not even quickly But even after dying thousands of times if you keep persisting you will become better and eventually beat the level. This process of improving at a level in Geometry Dash truly showed me firsthand that failure is human and moreover a requirement for improvement. This game has literally changed my perspective on a fundamental of life. That is incredible for what is at its core a 5 dollar cube game.
Alongside all of this, It combined so many elements of gaming that I enjoyed: Electronic music, Platforming, etc. It blends it in such a way that I think is honestly near perfect truth be told.
In all honesty, I don’t think I have ever seen a game with a more dedicated community. Considering how the game got no major update for 7 years and was unoptimized for the current landscape of creation with modern levels, it is incredible that thousands of players keep coming back to the game day in and day out. It shows it can be positive in people’s lives and that the game can mean much more than just a random cube game. Alongside that, this game still remains consistently in the top 100 games on steam with the most active players on a daily basis, with that number even being garnered prior to the release of 2.2. That is an impressive feat for a game like this and it just goes to show how dedicated GD fans are.
I think the sheer devotion that the community has for this game, the number of events there have been surrounding this game, the intense skill and dedication that top players put into the game, the music, the culture, the inside jokes, the scandals, the historical moments, the beautiful displays of art, and everything else are a testament to the fact that I would argue this is the best game ever made.
