As others have said, this probably isn't a game for a lot of you.
There's a lot of reading and it's an RNG as the majority of things that happen along the way are decided by dice rolls, as they were when you played the books. Because of this though, the world never feels empty. There is always something you could encounter on your way. There's tid-bits everywhere that are useful as you explore more and more of the map. Your actions have consequences and depending on what you choose to do, the story changes. The combat is fun but not complicated or difficult. The levelling is balanced and there are definitely areas that you can go to where you will die because you are not high enough level.
It's niche and I love it but I came in with expectations as I had read the books.
I've been looking for this ever since my library stopped offering the books. I loved the books so much and this hits the spot. It feels like the books did. I am really grateful to the dev for doing this and I can't wait for the other 2 books to be added.

Update: now all the books have been released I thought I would do a quick review about the two DLCs. Although they are not necessary to enjoy the game they do add a lot of content and 2 new areas(additional 3 books of content).
Lords of the Rising Sun feels much like the base game, It is a step up in difficulty, but not overly so.
The Serpent King's Domain is a much more difficult area and is more challenging. This is in-line with how the books played.
I thoroughly enjoyed both DLC and the Serpent King's Domain is great, maybe don't run in there with your Rank 1 character though. If you are enjoying the base game, buy Lords of the Rising Sun as well, if you want more of a challenge, buy Serpent King's Domain.
