genuine peak, i eagerly await the full release

completed the original with my dad about a month ago, and I really liked it. although both the original and this are very much two different experiences, this is still an amazing remake of the 2001 game! love all the callbacks to the original and the amount of little secrets and details they've added, and the new variations of the puzzles are really nice to see. the bloober team was given such an earth-shatteringly stressful task and they smashed it. peak, I fear

This game is really technically impressive and got some pretty big reactions out of me! I heard about this game from the r/godot subreddit, and decided to buy it while it had 2 reviews. I'm really glad I did, because getting the game spoiled for me definitely would've affected my experience.

The scares are really well done, and there were quite a few 4th wall breaks that I hadn't seen before in a horror game(The questionnaire was a big highlight for me!). I can see a lot of inspiration from other games that break the fourth wall in this game (especially OneShot) as well. These moments were really well done, seriously. There's a lot of really creative scares in here. I've never been more legitimately scared for my computer's health anywhere else lmao

I tried 100%-ing the game's achievements, but I got stuck on the final one, "Memories". I have no idea how to begin searching for it, so I'll probably look up a guide for it when the game gets more attention (which it definitely deserves! It's clear that quite a bit of work went into everything)

The game has a couple of weaknesses though. I personally wasn't really able to follow any story other than "the desktop guy is evil." I know there's more that's probably hidden away somewhere that I haven't come across, but it still kinda felt weak. On top of this, a few of the scares/creepy moments are kind of cheesy in the sense that it feels like something I would see out of a mediocre analogue horror series on YouTube. ("Ah!! Dead hanging man and glitching characters!!" doesn't really do it for me. I can see other people liking it, though.)

Liked the game a lot, despite the negatives! Hope to see more from the dev in the future!

|| 100% ACHIEVEMENTS ||

I like the PS1/PS2 style going on! Given that Silent Hill is one of my favorite game series, I really enjoy the similar art style and setting. The combat is okay, and story is kind of generic (fighting inner demons story in horror game), and the main story is a bit short at around 2.5 hours long but has some replayablity with different endings and bonus stuff. Scary game!
