- Review
Easily 10/10, best souls like/fromsoftware game ever made. I've been bricked up the entire 35 hours I've been playing. I really thought that I would be able to play this game in moderation but it seems that 1 hour of playing turns into 2 hours of playing turns into 8. I seriously can't explain how addicting the exploration and gameplay of elden ring is.
- Performance Issues
In a lot of huge boss arenas or areas with a lot going on I see the framerate dipping down to as low as 15 fps. This really sucks when you are in pvp and can't react in time fast enough to hit a parry since the framerate stutters so much. There's also been a few crashes and even more 10 second long freezes(These occur far more than crashes). There's also a big problem with losing connection while being summoned in the middle of a boss fight.
- Overall
Even with the severe performance issues I find it really easy to look past and keep enjoying the game, the jump from playing dark souls 2 to this is major and really outlines the problems with previous souls games, the linear progress of dark souls 3 made it hard to leave a boss fight and come back when you're ready, however in elden ring that's just not a problem, there was a few bosses where I just couldn't complete at my rune level. Since I started as deprived I didn't have any kind of sorcery to start so when I got to the godrick boss fight I realized my big mistake. There was a huge runup to the first good sorcery staff and the cost of the spells themselves was insane. But when I came back and killed godrick in less than 3 minutes with my new found sorcery that was immensely satisfying
