Content is slim, you will spend hours doing repetitive activities to get a single gun you want and that is viable in the current meta. Once you finally reach max power by being blessed by a poorly written random number generator, who finally gives you the last peace of max stat armor you need; there is nothing to do but play PvP.

Now PvP in itself is a reason not to buy this game. The matchmaking was recently overhauled in favor of connection based. Meaning if you are connected with the Destiny server you will be matched with anyone else willing to torment themselves in PvP. Say you are in Australia, well I hope you like playing people in Canada. Because that is who you will be matched with the majority of the time. If there were more people playing this might not be so bad. But there are only an average of 40K players on at any particular time. And only 10% of those players are playing PvP. This means in the entire world you only have 4000 people playing PvP. I shat you not, I connect to either a Toronto or NYC server and am regularly matched with players in Asia, Europe and Australia. One in four matches I play, my connection is good enough to reliably register hits.

So you have had enough of the crap they call PvP. You decide to play some PvE. You will play the same activity over and over again. Most of these activities have matchmaking as well. Again you will be matched with people on different continents. This regularly causes lag, with rubberbanding enemies that can shoot through walls or be stuck under the map shooting at you. Not so bad you might think. Well you would be wrong. To get decent loot from PvE you need to do High level activities like Master level Strikes. The teleporting enemies cause unwarranted team wipes. This pushes the time it takes to complete an activity way beyond fun.

This game has devolved into a program designed to frustrate its players. I had taken a break from D2 for 2 years but from some unknown reason I gave it another tr. I even bought the season pass. Big mistake. Once my season pass has expired I will be uninstalling D2 again. Hopefully I have learned my lesson and will never return.

TLDR: Do not waste your money on this game. D2 is more of a frustrating chore than an enjoyable adventure.

Okay it has been another 1k hours and a full season pass since my last review. The three seasons were mediocre at best. more seasonal activities that are fun for a day or two then become repetitive. Same crap, different season.

The cheating has become uncontrolled. It is so bad that there are aimbots in 90% of the quick play lobbies. Aimbotting is no longer a bannable offence. The only cheaters I have seen banned are those that use infinite ammo or instant supers.

Server connections are at their worst. Your connection is also used to ensure you maintain a 50% win ratio in the crucible. If you are on a win streak you will be put into progressively worse lobbies. Eventually you will end up in a lobby where you or your opponents are lagging so bad that your shots will not register at all. The only way to break this cycle is to load into these lag lobbies, wait 30 and leave so you get a loss on your record. After 6-10 losses it will start to load you into lobbies with minimal lag.

The game is not worth buying at any price. If you must play this game, just use the free to play version. As for me I am uninstalling it as I write this review update. After investing over 2000 hours on the Steam version and 3000+ on the battlenet version, you might think I am upset to be leaving this game. In reality I am relieved. I no longer live under the delusion that Bungie cares about the player experience.

TLDR; The game is garbage and not worth your money let alone time.
