Warning: This review will be shorter than what I originally wanted to say since there is a cap on how long a Steam review can be, sorry in advanced. I will not be going over its Game Mechanics, Sound Design, Music, Voice-acting, and Story.

POSTAL 2 is one of the best games I have ever played un-ironically. I absolutely loved following the Dude and Champ on their wild adventure of all 7 days (and more) in the town of Paradise. This will only be a review of POSTAL 2. If I feel like it, I will make a more in depth review of the DLC on its own steam-page, as well as the original Postal.
This review will be the most time I have ever spent on a review (a few hours), because I feel so deeply that this game is one of the most important ones out there.

How I got into POSTAL 2, and the POSTAL series / main points I will be going over.
There isn't alot to say about this point, my close friend showed me this game a few years back and just recently I got really into this game. Not only do I love this game, and Running With Scissors other products, but this game specifically and Its Fundamentals, and Game play both make this game something very special to me, and honestly, to the world of gaming itself. I don't think many games can hold the title of "Being one of a kind", but by God dose POSTAL 2 completely deserve this. (On a side note, from what I have seen, RWS is a fantastic company that seems to put its followers first, and revenue second. What I mean by this is that they will create games that will do poorly by other gaming companies standards, but they whole-heartily know this, and still choose to release their games, because they know that fans (and even people like me who wanted to experience something new) will love this game for years to come. They chose freedom, creativity, and loyal fans over money and THAT takes some balls to do. Even more so when they are a independent video game studio that knows how much backlash a game will get. Papa Desi, thank you.)

Firstly, the fundamentals.
Id first like to discuss the reason RWS and POSTAL 2 (and pretty much the entire franchise) needed to exist. RWS really pushed for what a game company should strive to be. This isn't me ♥♥♥♥-riding RWS, but proving that RWS (and POSTAL) needed to be here. RWS is a independent gaming company that puts its fan base, and even consumers first before profit. I have said this before but please listen. Firstly, RWS (atleast with this game) made something that they seem to be very proud of to this day, either still promoting this game in some way, or releasing clips of game play on their Instagram and Youtube channel. They even (atleast with Desi), interact with their fan base on Reddit and other websites with much of it having to do with POSTAL 2. This is a game that was so critically disliked and ♥♥♥♥ on by big name video-game reviewers for its time (much like the rest of their games and even more so for the original POSTAL), that have had to impact its sales and reputation drastically, but instead of throwing in the towel, they laughed right back at those peoples faces, and pushed on. If RWS were to have stopped completely making games, and even take down POSTAL 1 and 2, it would have set an example for other independent gaming companies to only make games that cater to a wider audience, or make games that don't try to explore the niche aspects of what a game can be. It takes guts to ignore what must have been hundreds if not thousands of websites saying how much they despised this game and its creators. They still create new games to this day, and while it still doesn't make other companies or medias like them, they do it for the fans. I've seen first hand that RWS has given free copies of the game (steam keys) to people. A user by the name of u/Hackase64 on Reddit was given a free copy of POSTAL 2 by MikeJ (RWS employee) just because he wasn't sure if the game was worth his money. Regardless if it was or wasn't, MikeJ gave him a free copy. Honestly, it shows that RWS is more happy with someone giving the game a chance and being a life-long fan over being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by buying something they might have not liked, just for RWS to have gotten a few dollars. No, just because RWS gave people free copies of the game dosent mean much, other companies have done this as well, however, these are companies that give their free copies to famous Youtubers who then play it, and review it for money most of the time. It makes the reviews feel disingenuous and for the soul reason to sell more of itself. Those companies blatantly put their revenue first, and the consumers second. RWS gave copies away to people who might have not even liked the game, just to give them a chance to try something they worked so hard on. They didn't ask for a review, or to be compensated in anyway BUT for them to atleast give it a chance for the years and years of negative reception. The kicker? POSTAL 2 IS ONLY 10$. Other companies wouldn't even think about giving away free copies for nothing in return, especially if the game was only as much as a 12-pack of soda. RWS laughs at micro-transactions, which I find to be even greater because other companies much more well off in terms of money sure as hell have micro transactions and absurd price-tags for games that are worth less than POSTAL 3 (wont be going into that game lol). I mean Christ, the DLC is longer than base POSTAL 2 and is better but for EVEN LESS. We need more companies like RWS that put consumers and fans first. It is why a like POSTAL has survived as long as it has. So if there is anything to take away from this length of text, support RWS in anyway possible. Let them know how important they are to the gaming industry.

Lastly, the game play. The game play of POSTAL 2 is great in many aspects. For starters, It allows you to find a wide variety of guns, explosives, melees, and also your (REDACTED) for you to urinate on others. Each weapon has a fantastic feel to them, meaning that when you use any of the weapons, they have a solid 'kick' to them. Even the weapons that deal less damage (excluding head shots), feel amazing to use, and I feel like the sound design has a lot to do with that. Even on POSTAL 2's higher difficulties when the weapons do much less damage, the weapons STILL feel great to use. You do not start with any good weapons, but that leads into another great game play mechanic of POSTAL 2, which is exploration and its 'open world'. POSTAL 2 doesn't allow you to roam the entire town of Paradise on Monday, but it also gives you just the right amount of space to explore areas that don't have to do with your objective like getting milk and cashing your check, that highly rewards you by giving you amazing weapons, interactions, and 'health pipes'. I dislike how modern games always advertise themselves as open world, that somehow that's supposed to be a selling point, but in many modern open world games there is either nothing to explore, or no sense of direction. In POSTAL 2, the game has a world brimming with personality, items to find, things to see, and people to kill. The game really isn't 'open world' per say, but you can avoid your objectives and task until you feel like you want too, to complete the day. I personally always did the task last, because it was highly rewarding to look in every corner of the map that I could. However, like stated, you aren't able to explore all of Paradise in 1 go (at least on Monday), so it gives you just enough to work with while also having your task be the main focus. I wouldn't even call this game a sandbox like many others do, at least on the scale like Garry's MOD, since there is a clear objective for the Dude. In short, you have the potential to have a lethal variety of weapons at your disposal if you decide to explore the town to its fullest. Not only will you take away more items to work with, but you will have the chance to encounter some wild thangs going on in Paradise.

666/10.
