It seems it finally got back on the right tracks!
There's no cheaters anymore (or at least much much less as I haven't noticed any through the week I've been back to game), the matchmaking is pairing into into playable teams, and generally the game seems much healthier than it used to be.
I came back to it and I definitely don't regret it.

Gameplay is great as always, bugs removed, can't wait for what comes in the future.
