TL:DR - Great game, would definitely recommend it.

Whole thing - So, to start, this game is AMAZING. It's another one of those games that you can't put down forever.

I started out on this game not enjoying it at all, however, I grew to absolutely enjoy it because of the amazing way it's executed, how many things there are to do, and in the upcoming 1.4 update to the game I am getting more into it than ever. This game also has mods which can be downloaded using the "TModLoader," however I will not be giving links for that.

Now, in a slight down-tone from the above paragraph, I would recommend playing this game with mods after your first run through this game. Now don't get me wrong, this game is perfectly playable without mods, but I've spent 200+ hours playing with mods. I'd recommend it, and it's a whole other amazing experience.

Anyways, back to it. This game is progression-based, and you have to do certain things to unlock other things, which brings me to my next point, bosses. Bosses in this game are progression gated, especially late-game. Early game you can skip most things using cheeky strategies, but other than that once you get late-game you can't skip too many bosses.

The gear in this game is extensive, even just in vanilla, with many things to choose from and many weapons for those armor sets. Now modded (especially the calamity mod) adds a whole lot of them, and different ways to play, from beating your enemies to death with sticks, to incinerating them with magical staffs, there's almost everything for everyone.

Note -- This game IS 2d, however I don't think it affects that much.

Now onto the next topic, building. This game is definitely good for builders, because there are plenty of blocks to choose from, and ways to design them together using a hammer.

The mining in this game isn't actually half-bad. You can use different pickaxes, and find new ores. There are different world types, and different "world evils" which affect it as well.

Moving on, the multiplayer isn't bad at all. I love this game's multiplayer (without port-forwarding!) and being able to play games with friends, without the need to port-forward.

To sum it all up, I love this game. It has many things to do, and many ways to play.
