This is my first review on Steam and I hope after 28 hours in this game i can provide people new to the FIFA franchise (like myself) what it offers.

First thing you need to know is because this game is 4-5 months old, you are starting behind a lot of other players if you want to play online, which is required for many of the challenges to get better rewards. This alone is frustrating as your squad is greatly inferior and often you will lose badly, which is not enjoyable and often times is frustrating. To offset this EA offers the option to buy player packs with cash, often called "pay to win", however after dumping close to $100 into this method, you often get relatively mediocre players and almost no high end players (unless my luck was just bad - this is in essence gambling with your cash, with terrible odds), making this also not enjoyable and frustrating, as i could have purchased 2 completely different games on sale for this amount! So the final option is completing in squad building challenges which takes some time and requires certain players or specific leagues or nationalities or colours of cards which you might not have leading to you to buy more packs and hoping to get these, which as I said above is very random and unlikely you will get what you need, leading to yet another frustrating activity/experience.

In essence, this game is designed for the hard core footballer (soccer enthusiast) wanting to invest considerable time and money into the game and is not for casual play, or someone who wants to just play against the computer with their elite squad (like me, I don't want to play online).

As a result of my very poor experience i can honestly say, i will never purchase another FIFA game for these reasons and can not recommend it for the casual player, who 4-5 months into the games life are likely the only people purchasing it now.
