I would've recommended this game about 3 years ago, but now, the absolutely stupid direction this game is taking into the modern era is really ruining everything. There is no balance at higher tiers. The economy is still absolute trash. Grind is impossibly long without spending money. You see those cool supersonic planes and modern main battle tanks in the trailers? If you started because of those, you will be spending well over 300 hours with premium account active, bashing your head against the wall that is the economy in war thunder. And the grind increases nearly exponentially without premium account active. Don't play this game. If you want to play a game with modern tanks, get Tokyo Warfare Turbo. If you want modern planes, go for Ace combat or Project Wingman. This game is not about modern tanks or planes, those are just the fancy things they show off in the trailers. The entirety of interwar and WW2 tech is essentially ignored for more and more modern garbage. This game has completely lost focus. The modern things in this game really need to be completely segregated from this game, they are less than 10% of the vehicles in the game, and they are the sole focus of the developer currently. I could be persuaded to modify this review if one day, gaijin decides to pull all the trash that is younger than the Leopard 1 into a completely new game. Give me war thunder 2 for mid cold war tech, I have played War Thunder for the WW2 tech, and seeing that focus be lost on modern trash is infuriating and insulting.
