Early Access Review
This is a bit of a tentative recommendation. This is a game that has a lot that it wants you to do (character unlocks, weapon crafting, skill trees, difficulty level unlocks, runes, etc), but not a lot of ways for you to do it. You'll be fighting the same 5 or so bosses over and over again while fighting waves of enemies that all feel basically the same to each other even if they have different designs based on what map your on. The maps all also feel very samey, probably because the enemies don't feel different enough from map to map and the bosses are the same regardless of what map you select. The skill selection system is interesting, but feels self-defeating. 99% of the time, it's correct to just take the rarest skill being offered, so it never really feels like you are making a choice. Also, because combat is so reliant on dashing, the skill that gives you an extra dash is by far the best in the game, and should be picked every time you see it, which feels a little boring.

All of that being said, there is a lot of good here too. All of the characters feel varied enough from each other, and you can get some really insane builds going if you pick enough synergies with your active skills. It never quite hits the insanity point that Vampire Survivors does, though. You'll never be able to just fully afk this game, and that's probably a good thing. I really like the art style, even if the visual noise can become overwhelming at times, and the soundtrack is pretty solid.

This is a game you'll probably be done with way before the game runs out of things it wants you to do, but I'm hoping the developers take a break from adding things to grind for to add more variety to the grind itself. As it is, I think this game is worth getting if you really like Survivors style games, and are willing to wait a bit for more content to be added.
