For fans who love Lovecraft and his work, this is a must-buy. I am a sucker for Lovecraft and his works, especially the Cthulhu Mythos. The game can be different for newcomers to the series and the Mythos itself.

Graphics:
For a game that is released in the year 2018, you would expect better graphics. The graphics are not so good, they look like from a game that was made in 2007. The animations and lip-sync are bad too. They don't match and sometimes NPC's will do stupid things that look very weird and out of place. The stiffness of the animations is funny and how they move about.

Music/sound:
The game has some nice sound effects that make you fear the unknown which is great. There are sections where the same sound is being played over and over again but it's not a big deal. All in all the sound is good, not groundbreaking but good.

Game-play:
The game-play is divided into 3 parts. You have stealth, combat (which only happens in the later chapters), and walking/chasing. The walking part and chase sequences are fun, the stealth not so much. The stealth could have been executed better. There are some parts where the enemy can see you through walls, but that is a minor hindrance. Most of the game is walking and discovering new things. The combat is kinda rushed, it is meant for the later chapters, so to set the story in motion. It was nothing special just a gimmick that ended very soon as it was introduced. all in all the game-play is kinda okay. There is a skill system that is like a skill tree that you can choose from. Each skill has 5 levels, These skills can be used in the game to uncover new things or help you progress through some dialogues.

Story:
This is the part where the game shines. For us, the fans of Lovecraft and Cthulhu, the story and atmosphere are very important. It starts with detective Pierce, where he gets a contract on uncovering the truth behind a murder. From there the story begins and builds on the mystery of the game. The game has like 4 endings and each end will be decided on the choices you make down the road, so yeah most choices in this game do matter. The game has 14 chapters and can be beaten in like 7 to 8 hours.

Pros:
Good story
Good atmosphere and suspense
Nice scenery at times

Neutral:
Short

Cons:
Animations
Graphics

Verdict:
I expected it to be more than 8 hours but I am happy with what we have. Lovecraft's stories don't get much love in the gaming industry, so when once in a while something like this comes by, then we praise our Savior lord Cthulhu. The game is an instant buy for fans of the Mythos and the man himself Howard Lovecraft. For newcomers, it could be a little bit hard to swallow because they would see it as "another horror walking simulator" This is a great game and I enjoyed it a lot.

PS: Dark Corners Of The Earth is still in my opinion better then this game and Sinking City (which has only good atmosphere and no other redeeming qualities).

8/10
