Early Access Review
Quake Champions was underwhelming during early stages, I couldn't even run the game at more than 15 frames, but, that was closed beta era, I recieved an email with a code for the game and I figured I would try it out. The game is fun, fast pased and an absolute ♥♥♥♥-show, complete chaos as you zip through the map. Constant player vs player combat, a fine roster of champions to choose from, all hosting their own unique ability, I've yet to purchase one of these champions, though from the matches i've played it is apparent that some champions out do others, Clutch is an example of a champion I feel could use some tweaks. His main ability is a force field (similar to that of D.Va from OW) nothing special, where he excells is in his stats and passive abilities, Clutch has a dash as a passive ability and can move faster if he remains moving in a straight line, this makes him mobile and has pretty high HP/Shields, in my eyes he seems slightly better than the average champion. So, balance isn't an enormous issue with Quake, though I would like to see some minor changes. The game looks great, plays very well, and is pretty well optimized. Matchmaking has been... Well, I can only say its okay, Quake Champions will ask you what your estimated skill level is, and I haven't seemed to find any sort of help in selecting intermediate, as I'm still getting my ass handed to me on a silver platter. Not sure if that selection even does anything. I suggest just picking Beginner. Quake Champions is a quick, fun, and thrilling when it wants to be, it has variety, and I would definitely suggest this game for anybody who enjoys blowing around the map and shooting anything that moves.
