Early Access Review
Exceptional game within its genre. Fundementally what you'd expect from a survival/sandbox/crafting game in terms of gathering resources, managing several stats to stay healthy, crafting bases and weapons, unlocking new tech, etc. The ability to create your own vehicles, however, is really something exciting. Paired with the Steam Workshop, you can find vessels for anything, and often of any style you can imagine, allowing you to really have ships tailored to your tastes. I would recommend to anyone on the fence about this game to have a browese through the Workshop and see some of the possibilities for yourself.

Pros
-enormous possibilities: Build what you want, how you want. While there are limits on size, those limits still allow massive ships.
-Lots of replayability. The core scenarios offer a wide variety of planets to explore, but the steam workshop allows players to upload their own solar systems so you can always find a new adventure.
-Very proactive devs. The game is always growing and expanding, with new things happening every few weeks at least.

Cons
-Dependency on block-based construction can leave the game looking very primitive, despite the decent graphic options.
-Block-based construction with no options for placing objects ON blocks often limits how you can build, forcing awkward situations like needing a whole block worth of space to put a tiny sign on the side of another block.
-No way to walk around on a ship that's in motion, though the devs seem to be interested in fixing this some day.
-Planets are pretty small and are basically a 2d map wrapped around a sphere. Devs also seem interested in fixing this some day too.
-On-foot gameplay is pretty limited, with basically just the ability to walk, sprint, jump(pack), and shoot.

Consideration: The game IS still early access and is changing constantly. The devs are very proactive in both communicating with their players, and implementing changes on top of growing the game. Many things may still change, and even by next year the game could be very different. The above mentioned cons about the planet size and moving on a ship, for example, are both topics that have come up in feedback subjects from the devs, so they are aware of the issue and engage with the community about it.
