Another Example of VR done right. WD:SS is incredibly tactile, from the constant wear and tear of weapons and tools to the satisfaction of pistol-whipping a zombie to death after running out of ammo! :p
Incredibly atmospheric, I constantly find myself turning at some random noise in case a walker has ambled into a room behind me. And that doesn't even compare to the tension and panic of trying to avoid a herd!!!

IMO this is what VR should be. Movement is a perfect analogue of the keyboard/mouse-WSAD system. The environment and all the things in it are highly interactive, (some standard "you can't go through here" moments but that's to be expected). Weapons are a delight to use, having tonnes of fun reloading while hiding behind cover and dodging head crabs.

Looks gorgeous, all the Half-Life effects and accoutrements are there which makes it feel like coming home.

Alyx is a cool protagonist!

Other devs take note please!

Early Access Review
I'd be annoyed at myself for buying this piece of crap and breaking my "no-early release BS" rule but a friend gifted it to me so at least I still have my integrity.

The fact that this game is not even close to being finished more than 2 years after release says it all. I spent an hour wandering around and nothing happened. I can do that for free in the real world.

I cannot ♥♥♥♥ on this game hard enough.

I love the table-top version of Smallworld and so I want to love this version of it but I just don't. The whole effort just seems lazy, constant lost connections, games are stopped if someone withdraws, and race/abilities which have not been properly balanced. These are flaws which mean I don't play this game for weeks at a time. Then I load it up and am immediately reminded why I stopped playing when somebody rage quits on the last turn of a game. If I was one of the people who helped kickstart this game I would be pissed.

Update: The addition of races from Smallworld: Underground and various expansions is welcome but now if you leave the game for even a second, (which could be common in longer games) you're instantly replaced by a bot who is guaranteed to make decisions that ruin your strategy. Other games wait out the clock before replacing you, why is Smallworld different?
