Reclaiming the Lost is an adventure RenPy visual novel.

You are a middle aged man. Your ex-girlfriend, Beth, wrote you a letter. Beth found out that she was pregnant after you broke up. Beth had the child, a girl, and gave her up for adoption. Beth now has cancer and wanted you to know you have a daughter, and has requested you find your daughter. Beth died a week ago, so you're on your own. The detective you have hired to help you has found a possible lead, but you're going to have to go back to where you used to live.

When you start the game you are informed that your choices will affect your relationships with characters in the game and informed that you will receive a notification when their feelings towards you change. There is also an audio notification, kind of sounds like a smoke detector going off. That's your clue to click on the tree in the upper left to get a relationship update. There is an option in the Preferences to Show choice hints. This will show you the relationship effect that the choices will have. I played with the hints on and selected choices that wouldn't prevent any path, you're notified, in the hint, if a choice will close off a path. There is also a heartbeat audio clue that will notify you that you might be making a relationship ending path.

Next you set the name of the main character, Matthew by default. The game starts in a café and you have the opportunity to talk to a woman, if you talk to her, you meet here again later and can set her name, Emily by default.

This game is more about the story than the action. This is partially due to you building all of your relationships from zero. Which makes sense for some characters, but not others. The first real scene isn't until about two and a half hours in, and that scene depends on your choices.

I'd say this is more 2.5 chapters as chapter 3 ends rather abruptly. The first two chapters had a more end feeling to them, where chapter 3 just cuts you off.

The English is excellent, like reading a good book. The main character questions why he is pursuing different women.

There are two Galleries, both available from the title or save menu. The Replay Gallery allows you to view the scenes you have unlocked in the game, most of these do not fall into the NSFW category. The Bonus images contains 17 images, that do not need to be unlocked.

This title is heavy on story. All of the possible relationships are "forbidden": woman who raised you, her daughter, employee, friend's wife. There are only a few actual NSFW scenes. This is more like real life and not a romp to romp story.
