I have a feeling that the general public plays War Thunder to grind for the really crazy high tier stuff from the modern era. Luckily for me I am a complete history wackjob and I am content with using weird Japanese and French tanks nobody cares about at low to mid tier. If you'd prefer a Char B1 bis and a Type 97 Chi-Ha over an M1A1 Abrams or a Leopard, then congrats, you won't have to grind. For me, the grind comes second in this game, I enjoy using all sorts of historical tanks and aircraft.
