Rocket League has a simple concept, hitting a huge sized ball to a goal using rocket boosted cars. It's easy to get into, but the skill ceiling allows you to keep learning and getting better after every single play session. That happens to be one of the most addicting parts of the game for me, always feeling like improving.

The game can currently be played up to 3v3 as ranked and up to 4v4 as unranked/casual variations. Rocket League also provides a few extra gamemodes, which vary from your regular car soccer. Not forgetting, Rocket League also has a number of different styles to play against bots. Their difficulty goes from them putting the ball in their own goal to them being surprisingly okay..

If you happen to be the first one of your friend group trying to decide whether to buy it or not, it can be perfectly played alone. Having friends of course making it easier to communicate, other than a few commands e.g. "Defending","I got it" etc. On a final note, you should really own a controller, as the game plays a lot better using a controller in my opinion. Although the buttons can be rebinded on both keyboard and controller and playing on a keyboard is definitely viable, it just doesn't feel as natural.

Pros:
  • Keeps being entertaining, due to still learning to better at the game.
  • Big player base, finding games fast.
  • The graphics are really pleasing AND it's well optimized.
Cons:
  • May require a controller in order to get the most out of it

Overall rating [8,5 / 10]

Rocket League is the one game that has not left my active playlist since I first played it, something about the satisfaction of constantly learning keeps you coming back.
