This is an incredible game with a solid story line and enough variety in gameplay to have multiple playthroughs with different characters. You are just about allowed to do anything you want as you follow the story. It is decidedly more fun when playing with friends because it gives a strong Dungeons n Dragons feel, allowed you to mess around more than you would by yourself. Don't underestimate the power of a proper build for your character though. It can be fun to play a character that can do everything, but the game gets exceptionally hard the further you go into the story and planning out your characters makes a big difference.
