Well well, after nearly sixty hours of use, it's time for me to make a review about this little software.

The sole purpose of Nimble Writer is to write novels. If you're looking for a word-like software, you've come to the wrong place, since you cannot really organize your document in pages with NW. It's really centered around writing novels, in which you focus more about the number of words and paragraphs rather than pages. Don't worry though, your whole document will not be in a single block; it's instead divided in chapters, allowing you to navigate through them easially within a single document.

For a novel writer, though, this thing is quite a gem. The idea of distraction-free interface is quite an advantage; you can customize what you want to appear on your screen and what you want to hide, that it be the options, the chapter selection or the statistics of your story (that one I would not hide, I find it really helpful to know how much numbers I wrote on a particular chapter). There is a correction tool, which is pretty helpful for people like me whose first language isn't english and yet who chose to write in English. Now I do not know if that also works for foreign language, since to be honest, I didn't try writing in french. If my memory is correct, there is also a thesaurus tool within the program, requiring Java to work. I didn't really test it, but I should try soon, since such tool should further help me.

Nimble has quite a few functions to overcome the serious issue that is writer's block. For instance, as mentionned before, the distraction-free interface, the stats and the achievements which motivates you to create. Yup, the ultimate challenge is to manage to write 2000 words each day for 21 days in a row. I'll probably work on that whenever my schedule allows me to. It also has a sidebar that you can either prompt or hide, in which you can manage your chapters and your notes. The note feature, that one is awesome. It allows to write multiple kind of "post-it" things, in which you can write notes related to your story, that it be places, characters or so. There's even a doodle note option, on which you can draw (thanks captain), but since my drawing skills are so low that I can't even draw stickmen correctly... yeah, you can guess I didn't really try. You can naturally search for words and replace them - or even replace a word by another in the whole text at once, if you want to completely change the name of a character or place, for instance. That option spared me a lot of time, so that's a big thumb up I give.

The software also allows you to save your work on steam cloud, if you wish. You can even encrypt your work with a unique key, that is pretty neat. Now, some people mentioned that they faced bugs and software-breaking bugs, that apparently caused quite some inconveniences to them. But if I'm correct, those issues seems to have been patched since last version, and myself have not yet been the victim of any bug of such - and hopefuly it will remain so. Checking through the forums, I discovered that the developer seems to be rather active with his community, trying to find solution to problems and always open to feedback.

So yeah, if you are into story writing, and that you're sick of Word, Wordpad or notepad (Why would you even use that for stories though?), Nimble Writer is in my opinion a very satisfactory software that allows you to manage your stories with ease. It really got me back into writing and I am thankful for that. So I definitely recommend it for you novelists.
