I wrote my initial review with 56 hrs sunk into Limbus Company. This was during the infant days of the game, during late Season 1 and before the major controversy . At the time I said the game is one of the best gacha's I have played, because it's generally super generous on what the player can get, only restricting seasonal and event IDs to later if missed for the dispenser of the current season.

I now come back at 10x that amount according to Steam's calculated clock (this is without including the comparable little amount of time on mobile;) we are now early into season 5, Don Quixote at the staring helm, over half way through the initially planned 12 cantos of the story. A story that is well written, and hearing how the currently plans is to keep this game in service for 10 years, has me both excited but also disappointed that we may not get another Project Moon game for that time. (Specifically would like if they keep those plans to adapt AND finish Distortion Detective in Visual Novel form. Limbus has folded those legacy characters into the narrative on the side of the main characters, so finishing that story should be higher priority.)

I still think these gacha mechanics the best for non-whaling players. It smooths out the desire of player to burn real money for the in-game fun-bucks to roll for an ID. The only exception to this is the Walpurgisnacht Night events, which happen about every 3 or so months. In these, the Sinners cosplay as characters from previous games which is when the peak of fan-service hit and these IDs are limited only to this event space.

In addition, a player may only roll for the new ones; missing them will mean having to wait till a future Walpurgisnacht for them to appear in the dispenser. These are the only true premium IDs and strong ones at that, outside of the seasonal battle passes, though those only give EGOs. This, I feel, is the only sore spot for the gacha mechanics, as the best IDs are effectively premium and missable for a quarter of the year. I understand the need for this, the company has to make money so it can bankroll future cantos AND other games (whenever they will materialize.) But outside of the seasonal battle pass, I try to keep myself as freemium as possible.

Which goes into Mirror Dungeons, the most consistent way to gather material for gaining IDs. They are fun. People will try and say they are not fun and in-fact boring, but gaming these systems to make an overpowered team is always a highlight of this game's simple combat. I do think its best to rotate out your teams, even going for lower IDs in the simulation mode (which the game incentives with lvling them all up to the designed max for the dungeon.) If you are fiending for the game portion, always play MDs.

The message is, if you are interested play it.
