Maybe the first "actually good" Dynasty Warriors game ever
I've played every DW game since DW2, and this is first one since DW5 I've really vibed with. If you can get over the fact that you will strictly be playing as the Wanderer, it's a damn good game.

  • Environments feel way more bespoke than any other Musou game. Levels have way more visual interest than previous games due to variety in terrain, slight changes in verticality, and a mix of buildings/structures that don't just look copy/pasted all over the place
  • Beautiful use of color - the overworld map, the characters, everything really pops
  • Combat feels snappy. I'll always love the simplicity of DW5 combat, but I'm liking how this feels a lot more than DW8XL or any other recent Musou game
  • The pacing of the battles/encounters is great. In retrospect, I might hate the "filler" battles, but they don't feel cheap (see bullet point #1), and when the "famous" battles hit, they have way more emotional impact and it really gets you amped up
  • Really cool how when you pick a quick battle, you instantly just get into the action. The way the camera kind of just zooms in and the protag is just charging forward feels great
  • The number of enemies on screen in this game is absolutely nuts

Even if the demo didn't resonate with you (I didn't like it very much, and the actual game eases you in much better), the full game is absolutely worth your attention if you're a fan of any Musou games.
