There's no doubt the incredible level of detail, well-written story, talented voice cast, and passionate development put a lot of other RPGs to shame. It does set a new standard that developers should aspire to in terms of delivering a complete, polished product at launch instead of something busted and nickel-and-diming with microtransactions.

Where BG3 really shines is making you invested in the characters and story through amazing artistic direction and narrative work. The turn-based combat system feels purposeful and memorable rather than just filler combat. Each character has depth and charisma that sucks you in right away.

The role-playing freedom to shape your own story path as a good, evil or nuanced character is really well-executed. Being able to forge your own narrative by how you treat different characters is awesome.

All that said, calling it a gaming revolution that will change how all gamers view games might be overhyping it a bit. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but refines what a phenomenal RPG experience can be.

I'm really impressed by the obvious passion and quality Larian Studios poured into this game. It's an exceptional RPG/CRPG and I can't wait to see what they do next, even if tempered expectations are required. Not every game will or needs to be Baldur's Gate 3.
