Competitive is full of cheating possibilities and the matchmaking is really awkward. Modding the game has become a lot more limited which gave the game a lot of its charm.

That doesn't mean everything in it is bad, the AWP was an improvement from the older game - automatically setting up game modes and competitive games removes a lot of the effort which people had to manually do before.
