Basically a professional version of the 'newgrounds game' genre. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Time management and tits. Not particularly complicated, but can be quite challenging. Fun to 100%, no BS achievements.

If this is your kind of thing at all, a modern take on Shinobi, Gaiden etc, get it. Going in as blind as possible is recommended. End of. You will not be disappointed.

For those that want more information. It's a lot more than expected. Technically I don't think it does anything new. But what it does do, is bring together all sorts of things and execute them in an exemplary way. The game isn't trying to get a nostalgia interest from you for it's own sake. It perfectly captures the nostalgia and then ups the ante again and again, and delivers far more than you had bargained for.
Enduring fun and smooth mobility mechanics, an 11/10 soundtrack, wonderful art style and excellent art quality, cool little story, fun characters, intriguing dialogue, surprising twists in more way than one, some challenging gameplay (particularly in the optional areas), fun to 100%, no seriously BS achievements (Just 2 that are kind of ridiculous, but easily doable with a little focus).

This is one of those games I wish could play for the first time again, and 100% all over again (outside of the 2 awkward achievements). Get it.

Not even sure how I had this game in my library. Been there for years, just decided to give it a go one day and was pretty surprised. In it's bones, it is a pretty janky adventure game, with some lacklustre puzzle design, graphics and wonky animations. But it comes together as a somewhat enthralling little experience.

Main caveat for me being that it has some BS grindy achievements that are AFK territory. Marring an otherwise pleasant and charming surprise. If you're a bit of an adventure gamer at all, give it a go.

A simple game of find the hidden items, elevated by charming design in visual environment and sound. A satisfying little game to fill the odd hour. Highly recommend if this is your thing at all.

I'm actually surprised at just how shallow this game is. It is a pretty game but it's gameplay is on par with that of casual mobile games, if not worse.

The entire game is literally just:
a) Put buildings down next to other buildings that give bonus points
b) Don't put buildings down next to other building that deduct points

That is it, nothing more, no hyperbole. That being said, it's enjoyable for what it is. I was just surprised there was literally nothing 'city builder' about it given that it has said game tag on it's steam page. Your 'cities' do not live at all, there are no islanders. I'm shocked the developers didn't go the extra mile to add some city management mechanics considering the beautiful foundation of a game they built.
Anyway, two, maybe three islands and you'll feel like you're more than done. Just as well you'll get the vast majority of achievements on your first run if you pay any attention. And the few that take thinking, that are left over are at least a bit of fun to get. Albeit they take about 15 minutes to get them.

It's not a city builder by any stretch of the imagination. But if you want something that is very light, calm, pretty, 'zone out with a podcast', I can recommend it on those grounds.

Something like a modern take on The Bonanza Bros. This is a lot of fun and doesn't try to be more than it needs to be. Yet it has plenty of variety, if a bit repetitive at times. Silly, satisfying, great art, great soundtrack, some super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ achievements, mostly fun to 100% otherwise. All in all it's worth if this is your thing, but prepare to be annoyed if you like to 100%.

A great little, casual mashup mini-game. A little RTS, a little management, a little rogue-lite. As the game goes, it can be great fun. I don't really have any complaints with the game. But it has some really ridiculous achievements that take the fun out of the 100%. Other than that, it's worth.

Excellent rogue-like fun, tough but fair, simple but with enough depth, plenty of variety, best enjoyed with a friend(s), excellent soundtrack, no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ achievements, fun to 100%. No complaints. Get it if it's your thing.

I bought this on sale for £1.50, and I certainly got my money's worth. I'm not sure what all the bad reviews are really about. If it were a £20 game then it would be fair, and yes maybe even £7.50 current full price might be too much. But on sale as I got it was excellent value IMO.

The abandonware criticism as far as I can tell is only due to the game using an out of date Unity network function that is no longer is supported by Steam. Fair comment, but you can just use a direct connection and it's absolutely fine and stable.

As for the game itself, yeah it's not very deep, kind of cheap and does feel as though the effort dwindled. There was a lot of potential but what is there is fine. Managing your shop, making the orders and stacking the shelves, seeing things tick over is satisfying enough. It does what it needs to, no more.
But there are issues, mostly with a terrible UI, some awful NPC pathfinding and dreadful balancing. But none of these things were that big an issue. The one thing that did almost tip this to a downvote was that I did everything in the game when having earned ~2mil. But there is an achievement for earning 10mil. These kind of grindy, sore-thumb, artificial life extension achievements piss me off so much. Basically having to run the AFK in the background whilst playing something else for an additional 30 hours or so is a wind up.

Otherwise, it's ok. Worth it on sale for sure.
