Outline: From the off this game is wonderfully compelling, with every design detail loaded with bags of character. It's genuinely funny throughout and has a great collection of puzzles, for the most part. The only emphatic criticism I could make is that there are no achievements.

Other than that, one or two of the puzzles are a bit weak, but it's only a couple of the easy ones so it's no big deal. The sound, the music, the characters, the atmosphere, the story are all really great. Knowing nothing about the game, having not even seen the store page, I got completely blindsided with reveals a couple of times. Which is absolutely the way to go in. Also it's a fair bit shorter than it first appears to be, which is a let down, but I hope that things are continued in the sequel.

Verdict: For adventure and puzzle game fans this gets an absolute recommendation. For those not puzzle-minded, perhaps it's not for you, but I'd still say give it a whirl on sale.

Outline: It's a fun puzzle game. It's essentially just the same puzzle over and over, so it can get a bit tedious if played too frequently, but in infrequent bursts it has more than enough variety to warrant the seventy-odd levels included. I'm not sure that I'd say that it's worth the full price asked, but it is a very solid puzzle game with no nonsense achievements, a solid progression of mechanics and a wide spread of difficulty throughout its levels.

Verdict: It's a fun, logic training, universal puzzle game that I recommend for everyone.

Outline: Essentially it's a turn-based rogue-lite, with some light management. What there is, is not that deep and will become dreadfully repetitive to most. I had seen, more or less, all of what the game had to offer at around a fraction of my total play time.

What is there can be quite satisfying to replay though. For those, like me, who enjoy completing every aspect of a game and 100%ing the achievements, this game can be a great time killer, or multi-tasking game alongside a podcast or audio book. It's not perfectly refined, but it is fair, and there's a lot of fun to be had in theory crafting different synergies.

Verdict: I recommend it for anyone interested in this kind of game, though your mileage may vary.

Outline: First things first, this game is not a 'colony sim', a 'city builder' or any other kind of simulation. It is a puzzle game and that is all. Essentially a small, level based, resource and time race puzzle game using a loose Roman city context. It's basic, but it's fun, it's simple yet challenging toward the latter half. It has pleasant music and is fun to 100% with no nonsense achievements.

Verdict: If you fancy a little Roman city themed puzzle game to pick up for thirty-minutes-to-an-hour here and there, I recommend it.

Outline: Essentially the precursor to the modern mobile game, but without all the heinous, anti-consumer business practices that have since come to define the genre. The OG, 00s, early web 2.0 Popcap classic tower defence game. Not much more needs to be said, it's a classic for a reason.
A simple yet challenging puzzle game, with plenty of progression and extra side activities to do. A lovely soundtrack, a bit of comedy with broad appeal. A lot of fun to just pick up and play casually, but also a great game to 100%, with a lot of challenging achievements and no nonsense.

Verdict: Totally recommended for all players. A great introduction to the tower defence genre for newbies, and plenty to enjoy for veterans.

Outline: I'm not even sure where to start with this one. This is my second time 100%ing the game as I did it once before, a few years back, on the PS4. I saw that there had been more content added in the 'final cut' edition and decided to do it all over again.

Part management, part survival, part stealth, part action, part adventure. part rogue-lite. It's an odd blend that is very much it's own thing. While the game loop itself is great, it's the wonderfully crafted context that really sells it. The visuals, the writing, the characters, the environment and the outstanding music all come together to make a uniquely tangible, depressing and sometimes cosy mood that only this game can offer. Throw in a good amount of replayability and a solid list of achievements to hunt, with no nonsense, and it's practically perfect for what it does.

Verdict: I completely recommend it for anyone looking for a challenge or for something a bit different.

Outline: This is an excellent little adventure game. Well crafted throughout. A simple story, set in an imaginative world, with solid and varied puzzle design, with no dialogue but still charming expressive characters with plenty of personality and an excellent soundtrack. Polished like an old Lucas Arts game, but just a bit narrow in scope and short in length. No nonsense achievements at all, but mostly just progression ones, sadly.

Verdict: Strongly recommended for all, probably a pretty great option for someone's first adventure game, especially on a sale.

Outline: This is outstanding. The computer game equivalent of those, very expensive, puzzle box contraptions. It's only a few levels but each level is it's own puzzle box that involves myriad interconnected puzzles. Not the best difficulty curve as there were one or two puzzles that stopped me in my tracks, but I otherwise, more or less, flew through the rest.
The flavour text and context feels pretty tacked on and superfluous, but the vast majority of puzzles are expertly crafted and delivered in great, moody 3D visuals. The game has no nonsense achievements but progression only ones unfortunately.

Verdict: Strongly recommended for all puzzle fans, and also puzzle novices.

Outline: It's good. A very unique pair of puzzle games, that while limited in scope, offer a solid variety of puzzles ranging in difficulty from easy to quite challenging. Almost every puzzle is well constructed and nothing is stretched out to waste your time. It does what it does, with some nice noir context and some fun achievements to go back and find once you've finished it. No nonsense achievements.

Verdict: Recommended for those into puzzles or those looking for something completely different.

Outline: This is an amazing puzzle-based exploration, 3D metroidvania. It's clever, charming and has bags of character. Great puzzles, excellent exploration, good sound, wonderful music and solid visuals. Inparticular the sense of progression of your abilities and the world opening up is phenomenal. It has an appropriate and mostly fun achievements list to hunt that is comprehensive and suit the game. No nonsense achievements.

Verdict: I completely recommend it, even to those who've not tried a metroidvania or any puzzle-platformer type games before. If you're curious on a sale, just get it.
