So I love the game mafia. You know, the card game where you can "kill off" all the townspeople, sheriff, and medic? A friend of mine told me to join in on a game during the free weekend, and before I knew it, I had logged onto my computer and bought Project Winter and Blackout before even looking at the reviews.

Project Winter fully exceeded my expectations. With a number of different traitor and innocent roles, PW allows you to place traps, sabotage and complete objectives, revive and resurrect players, craft items, heal and boost players, escape, and take the heck over. At first, managing your health, heat, and food consumption can feel like a lot, but it's a relatively good balance that keeps the game hard enough but not impossible. With 8 players (2 traitors, 6 innocent / neutral parties), there are so many different roles to experience, some of which include the Scientist, Medic, Defector, Yeti, Identity Thief, and more!

Overall, I've really loved the game even more as I've put time into the game. Getting to know the mechanics and gameplay has been a lot of fun, and there are a lot of fun people that play this game. If you're looking for an escape / team / survival / strategy multiplayer game, Project Winter is a great one! Make sure to buy the bundle and DLC, "Blackout." Trust me, you won't regret it, and I'll see you at the cabin.

Here are some pros and cons of PW for the devs / community / potential buyers:

Pros
- 8-player online multiplayer
- super simple controls and gameplay mechanics (takes a few games to get the hang of it and more if you want to get good)
- tons of fun achievements to push for
- great mafia-like game taken to Steam / PC
- proximity chat is sick (as people get further away their voices get harder to hear)
- a super easy game to run, even a potato could run it at low settings
- they've got a link to their own game's Discord with thousands of players on the main menu
- a number of customizable features including earnable player skins
- player point system to determine top players at the end of a game
- player stats which I love (for some reason)
- devs are pretty active and are constantly working on the game
- overall great and somewhat older community
- helps you take the edge off of the 'rona

Cons
- no way to add people / see friends in game
- the hit boxes for weapons / guns / crates are atrocious (Fixed in update!)
- guns theoretically should do more damage... but they don't (Fixed in update!)
- no filter for searching for open lobbies or only your language (Fixed in update!)
- a lot of people are pretty new, so games can be painful when nobody helps with objectives
- this game can end friendships
- I would put the "thumbs up" option on the endgame screen so people know about it

Here's some of what I got, leave that thumbs up if you liked this review or found it useful.
