A brutal sequel that sticks with the theme of adrenaline pumping violence but swaps out the small, compact, easily flowing levels of the first for larger, more open stages. Maps are massive, featuring multiple stages cram-packed with enemies. There's more of a focus on gunplay, as you have to basically have to rely on it. You can beat the levels without firearms, but it's a lot harder then the first game. Certainly feels good to master something - anything - in this game.

Evan, the writer, has the most melee orientated levels for those who love to bash in skulls. Of course, you won't be bashing in skulls unless you trigger his 'beserk' mode, you'll just be knocking out incredibly hostile hoodrats and mobsters.

This game is hard. It's probably the hardest game I've ever played. A few levels have poor design but some people are seeing "large" as a flaw.

I'd definitely recommend this, especially with the level editor on the way.

A unique, fun roguelike action shooter which gets progressively harder based on how long you take, featuring random generation, several classes, and lodes of dosh for you to spend on chests that might give you something half decent.

Lots of fun, buy now.

Despite the generous sale, that brought the game down to 99 cents for quite a while, this game isn't even worth that.

The horrendous gunplay is the one thing that will really put you off. Shooting anything is just not fun, especially when this weird effect makes the models look like 2D sprites upclose. Throw in the fact that the kick is either non-existant, poorly animated, or out of control and unrealistic, and you're not going to have much fun. This game is about shooting dinosaurs, and shooting dinosaurs in this game isn't something that you can do for a while before wanting to play something else with solid gunplay, like Insurgency.

The guns just feel so weird, nothing makes them feel powerful or fun to use. If you want a wave-based survival game, play Killing Floor, it is a lot better, just without dinosaurs.

Arma 2: OA is a wonderful military simulator, boasting tons of fantastic mods. DayZ has fueled Arma 2, allowing it to rise up into popularity and giving people a look at the sim. Though, sure, you can buy Arma 2 just for the DayZ mod or Wasteland, but Arma 2 can hold itself up on its own, with the mods that base themselves around it being nice little bonuses that keep you from running out of content.

The engine's core issues do detract from this. The game is easy to run on singleplayer, but multiplayer is rather taxing. The engine doesn't utilize your resources that well, which doesn't result in fun. Though I can mess around on anything vanilla Arma 2 at very high with a steady and smooth framerate, modded multiplayer gamemodes appear to completely wreck the FPS even at low, which is what prevented me from playing DayZ. Due to this, I played Arma 2: OA and Arma 2 as Armas instead of modding bases, and still had a lot of fun.

The gunplay is solid, realistic, and tense. The controls are a bit clunky, and the first person view is annoyingly shakey, but third person holds up (but can easily be exploited.) The AI can be rather stupid at times, and singleplayer is rather harsh, forcing you to restart if you meet your death, but it is rather fun to play missions you pick up from the community or just try some of the base ones, or even make your own.

Early Access Review
An accurate, but slowly developed zombie survival game that while isometric, is more immersive then others on the market.

Grab it if you can.

The best free to play FPS out there.

The only problems I have with it are a few issues with registering backstabs, hits, etc, which only really happens when you're lagging like crazy or the guy you're trying to kill is lagging like crazy. Can be annoying when you clearly backstab someone but they only take the damage of a normal slash and easily turn around and kill you instantly.
