if you're thinking about playing kakarot instead of this, think about it first. Xenoverse, as far as I have seen in the game, just has much more intuitive gameplay as well as a more original story. That being said, DBZ: Kakarot's open-world aspects are much more prominent than that of Xenoverse's because, well, Xenoverse is not an open world game. So basically what's being said here is this: Play DBZ Kakarot if you want an authentic DBZ experience, pulled right from the show with lots of open-world gameplay and a decently paced story, much more accurate to the actual show. Play Xenoverse if you want a game with a brand new story and with much faster paced gameplay and offers a lot more customizable mechanics (making your own character, buying new outfits, etc.). I personally enjoy Xenoverse better since after finishing the entire DB series, I'm super hyped for a brand new story with new characters but still with that good old DBZ charm, while DBZ Kakarot just doesn't hit as hard for me because it's the same story from the anime/manga with a bunch of other 'stuff' added on. And while yes, that is the point of the game, I personally feel as though the story could have relied on a little bit more story-relevant subjects instead of clashing lazily made filler characters with the main storyline, something that the show held off on for the most part (up until The Buu Saga at least), making the fetch-quests fun but kind of uninspired since it feels like the filler from the show but even crappier. Overall, both games are awesome but as a big fan of the show, I just feel like Xenoverse is more representative of the whole idea of Dragon Ball itself; a grand story with a crud ton of unneeded intricacies and yet completely understandable to anyone who actually takes a little bit of time to pay attention. In this regard, Kakarot just kind of feels like a barebones filler-ridden game.
