While Hearts of Iron III isn't for everyone, people should not be grossed out or write the game off based on its screenshots. Despite most of the game being looking at a map, it offers in depth detail into being the government and military of a country with total countrol. Most players find peacetime the most boring time throughout the game, this can be worse if your playing a country like the United States which doesn't enter WW2 for quite sometime. However, people may find it boring during this peace / build phase but if its not thought out well you'll be quickly regretting and possbily restarting because you found that phase unimportant. If you are like me, and love to add flavor of events and hard decisions during peacetime especially and wartime I would highly recommend the Black ICE mod. This mod adds hundereds of historical events and decisions which have major to minimal impact on the game. These events can both be helpful and hurt you but I feel like it makes the games events harder as its not always a easy decision. For those reasons and the diversity of units and divisions that can be accomplished give you a more fun and tough time, as the AI also build more diverse and recieve events just for them to keep them up to par with you. If anyone ever has any questions or thoughts about getting or already has the game and just wants to discuss anything about it I encourage you to message me. As stated above I strongly recommend this game in its vanilla state or its various mods such as Black ICE, HPP and August Storm.
