INTRO:
Fire Pro Wrestling World (FPWW) is a simulation-style wrestling game, which is extremely customizable. In terms of customizing, in many ways, FPWW is one of - if not - the best at this for wrestling video games. Wrestling fans that were waiting for another game on the PC to try to take WWE's current reign of wrestling game or were looking for another wrestling game (that isn't a WWE game) - look no further, as FPWW certainly delivers. With tons of heart & content from the developer here & also a great community also delivering an insane amount of content (check the Steam Workshop), this game feels like it could have an endless supply of content. It isn't always perfect, as it is lacking a few things - but it's still a great wrestling title.

CUSTOMIZE, CUSTOMIZE, CUSTOMIZE:
In terms of customization, it's going to be tough to beat FPWW. With an old-school style of graphics, this game isn't your typical AAA title. This feels like an Indie game and Indie Wrestling title, TBH. But by doing so, this frees up and doesn't limit the game - as the game's made to have everything customized. Belts, wrestlers, moves, venues, rings, leagues, teams, etc etc - you name it here, it can be customized.

While the game comes shipped with their own wrestlers, moves, etc - this isn't entirely what the game's for. Whether it's from the player themselves or from the community, with so much customization here & the tools given to us, it feels like this game has an almost endless supply of content. For example, I have loaded about 700 wrestlers from different promotions, past & present - ECW, WCW, WWE NXT, WWE Raw, WWE Smackdown, WWE 205 Live, TNA / Impact, NJPW, ROH, Indies, etc etc - namely from the Steam Workshop.

THE ACTUAL WRESTLING:
As if the WWE games weren't simulation-style enough (since WWE 2K15), enter FPWW. These games are even more simulation-based. Like a Dark Souls of sorts in some ways, you can't waste your moves here; and these games aren't easy to master either. In WWE games, you can still waste moves...and still get somewhere. You really can't do that in FPWW, as...you likely will tire your wrestler out or hurt them quicker. You have to start with grapples, holds...and lead into eventually bigger moves. This feels more like this is out of the epic matches that you'd see in NJPW, TBH; more so than say what you'd normally see in a WWE ring on WWE TV.

WHAT FPWW IS LACKING:
Out the box, FPWW isn't perfect. Well...not yet perfect, anyways. When compared to WWE, FPWW feels like it's lacking match types and modes. WWE is loaded w/ match types, gimmick matches, and/or modifiers to matches - Regular Matches, Tag Matches, 6 Man Matches, Survivor Series Elimination Matches, Triple Threat Matches, Cage Matches, Ladder Matches, Money in the Bank Matches, Cage Matches, Hell in a Cell Matches, etc etc. Mostly, it feels like FPWW has Solo, Tag, 6 Man, Deathmatch, League (i.e. similar to NJPW's G1 Climax Tournament)...and some modifiers to these matches.

Also, WWE for their wrestlers in their games: they have a few signatures & finishers...all for numerous different types of scenarios: inside the ring, outside the ring, on a ladder, table finishers, tag team finishers, cell finishers, backstage finishers, etc etc. Meanwhile, FPWW only gives the player 4 Signature moves and 1 Finisher move in total for everything...meaning they can be either solo, tag, or 6 Man. This feels limiting, when compared to WWE games - as you could waste a signature or finisher for 6 Man or Tag Team...and just not be able to use it in that in a different type of match (like say a singles match).

There's also two other things: out the box, FPWW is lacking a Story Mode and a Season Mode (i.e. WWE 2K series' Universe Mode). While it looks like the NJPW DLC's will solve the "Lack of a Story Mode" problem (as they have a Story Mode), there is no Season Mode in FPWW. In WWE games w/ their MyUniverse Mode, you can do a lot: you can book shows, rosters, belts, PPV's, feuds, matches...and/or play the matches/shows out or sim them, at your own will. FPWW just doesn't have a (Endless) Season Mode, as FPWW mostly has Exhibition Matches & League/Tournament modes.

OUTRO:
FPWW is a great wrestling title, despite its few issues. While FPWW might lack AAA graphics & production; a Story Mode "out the box" (they are in NJPW DLC's); a Season Mode period (not in any DLC's...yet); and have a few issues/quirks with how it handles Signatures & Finishers in its Movesets for wrestlers - FPWW has tons of heart, customization, and content to keep most simulation-style wrestling fans coming back to enter its squared circle. With tons of content also coming officially from the developers and insane amounts incoming from the community, the sky could be the limit with FPWW. Just like with AEW (on TV), WWE (games, in this case) has found their competition now ... and it looks to be Fire Pro Wrestling World.
