This is -the- medieval fantasy RPG. The best. Makes Skyrim look like a proof of concept (at least 1K+ hrs in Skyrim, played it from the day it came out on my Xbox). Do yourself a favor and at least start at Witcher 2, though, because all the choices you make in this game will make so much more sense if you do.
