Mordhau has easily the most competent, incredible-feeling, refined combat of any first person slasher available right now. But where it falls flat is that the game just isn't fun for the casual player, and has nothing to offer to them. If you're a casual player and want to play PVP, you're basically bullied into frustration until you decide to abandon casual play and seriously try to improve.

The game is extremely execution-based, skill-based. It demands hundreds of hours from you before you even begin being able to hold your own against the majority of the current active player base. This is partly because of Mordhau's terrible on-boarding that's out of touch and insufficient with the current state of play, and partly because of how the developer support from Triternion has been awful, causing only the most dedicated players to stick around. Few yet somehow still lackluster updates, zero competitive support, questionable-at-best balance, all problems that stack up over the five years this game has been alive.

No matter how good swing manipulation feels in this game, no matter how fun it is, it doesn't matter. Dragging is innovative, but still niche. It will NEVER be intuitive, nor will it ever be a mainstream-compatible core game mechanic.
