I put 150 hours into this game according to Xfire way back in 2004. It is total cheeseball fantasy at its finest. Shameless Tolkien worship, excessive boob armor, and more fairy fanart than you can find on all of Tumblr combined. It's not a deep game, the RPG systems are unbalanced and half-baked, the RTS systems are shallow and clunky, and the game as a whole, despite its grand production values and sensational soundtrack, is laden with bugs and full of awful mistranslations and hilariously bad voice acting. But it is insanely fun because of the sincerity with which it was made. This is a game made by fans of games, RPGs, and fantasy - a loveletter. I would compare it to Blood, in terms of the joy the developers put into making that game with their affinity for horror films and black comedy. If you dig Warcraft 2 and the Dungeon Siege games then you will probably dig Spellforce as well. Also the sequel is pretty solid, too.
